When I told my daughters the lettuce is leaning and growing weird they laughed. When I lifted them up to really show them, they laughed harder.
Zone 7B NYC. We had a heat wave a few weeks ago. They wilted then sprung back up. I thought they were bolting, I dont mind getting free seeds lol. They were in smaller pots. I moved them to bigger pots to try to straighten them out but, they decided to curve and lean on the neighboring pots lol
I do pick them sometimes for smoothies mixed with other greens and fruits.

They’re bolting from the heat. Still edible but they’ll be much more bitter.

    They’re just being sociable. 😄

I wish I could grow greens during the summer but we’re in 9B and the heat is murderous. I’m going to try some in our little greenhouse in November.

Let them finish bolting and you can save seeds. It usually takes 2-3 seasons to acclimate your seeds to your backyard growing conditions which is pretty cool:)

Mine bolted like this and I just let them flower. Now a deer found them and had a salad buffet lmao

Arugula was the 1st to bolt, already have seeds from them. I plan to grow for the fall garden. Radish, Beets, Genovese Basil, and Tulsi Basil are also bolting. I’m ok with it, free seeds to plant more 😃
