So I've been planning a large Mojave/Sonoran desert themed Paludarium for a long time now. I want to mimic a small desert oasis on one side of the tank with a winding 'canon' with a river/riverbed leading down to the oasis from a rock structure on the other side of the tank. I'm planning on having cycles of rain where the river and pond will fill up and drain. I think it would be cool to have some fish and shrimp in the pond that can withstand that kind of fluctuation and saw in this youtube video fish that lay eggs in the sand that apparently can survive until the next 'rainy season' when they'll hatch.
