I bought this giant pothos and now all new growth appears to me much smaller than the other leaves in the same branch.

For more context/
– Bought it a couple months ago, first couple of weeks the growth was large and just fine
– 2-3 weeks later the leaves started yellowing so I checked on the roofs
– It was in incredibly root bound. No matter how much I watered it, when I poked it with a skewer, it was always dry
– I didn’t have a larger pot so I just chopped 1-2 inches of the roots from the bottom and split it into two
– All new growth from them keep coming out much smaller than the other leaves in the same branch
– It’s under a grow light for about 8 hours since it’s not in a place where it can get sun
– I keep up with fertilizer

Is there anything I can do to ensure new growth is large?

  1. possibly a mixture of being dry a lot and the light not being on for very long. i personally have my growlight on for 12hrs a day. try to buy a bigger pot for it as well preferably 1-2 inches larger than the root ball, and use a mixture of soil, bark and maybe perlite for additional drainage (would prevent root rot and their roots like aeration). i wouldnt repot for another 2-3 weeks though just since you chopped the roots and it might stress the plant too much

The leaves won’t stay large if it is kept as a trailing plant. They grow big when they are attached to something like a moss pole and are able to grow upwards
