Something I found interesting is that in comparison to my other Nepenthes species, my Nepenthes rajah seems to give off more of a sour/almost fatty smell as opposed to the sweet smell the others give off, could there be some evolutionary reason for this or am I reaching? The smell only really comes from the pitchers or around nectar glands.

The smell is almost always to attract prey, so my guess would be its a distinct smell to attract a group of insects or small animals this plant would usually feed on in its natural habitat. Its probably different from other species because they are specialized to feed on different animals, either to minimize competition for food if they live close by or because they live somewhere else and face a different pallet of prey there.
