today we’re going to check out six preer pantry meal ideas [Music] hey everyone welcome to Homestead Corner i’m Jenny and today I wanted to share six preer pantry meal ideas you can put these in a bag like I did so they’re on the shelf ready to go just grab the bag and throw it together you can definitely do that you can just grab individual cans as you feel like it however works for you but I think it’s important to have some quick easy meal ideas we can grab from the pantry all of this stuff is already cooked so you just really need to heat it up is the most that you’re going to have to do so an emergency situation if the grid is down or something like that you can really conserve your fuel by cooking from your pantry with things that don’t require tons of cooking all of these are going to be done in 10 to 15 minutes depending on how you cook them and they are super easy just open most of it is dump and go which is great so let’s jump in and check out these six preer pantry meal ideas so this first one is chickpea curry it is vegetarian so you can add meat to it if you wanted to like some chicken or something like that but the chickpeas are great honestly and it gives you the protein you need so I’ve just put everything on a little card that way I can reuse the bags if you write on the bags you’re you know you got to keep scratching it out writing something else or a lot of people aren’t going to reuse them uh I can reuse these over and over and I could save this card and it’s got everything that I need for the meal right on it um which is great so this chickpea curry is really super simple and easy one can of chickpeas a can of coconut milk and a can of diced tomatoes i like the ones with green chilies cuz it gives it a little goodness to it and you can add a bag of rice to it i like to serve this over rice um and I just put right on my little card what kind of seasonings I’m going to use with this and you know just basic seasonings i’m going to use some curry powder to make it curry and some you know salt pepper little ginger i love that in there um onion powder you could add onion fresh onion if you have it i just cook the rice the way I normally cook any old rice and uh you can use white or brown or whatever rice that you like and you can cut this down and put just the amount that you want repackage it if you want to but I just threw a bag of rice in there and we’ll just use the amount we want and save the rest for another meal and then this just gets heated together with your seasonings and then you dump everything over the rice super simple and easy it’s about a 15minute meal the time it takes to cook that rice meal number two is a simple pot pie again this is another super simple and easy one you’ve got your um cream of chicken soup some vegetable melody you could put any kind of vegetable you want in there but you’re going to want about a can of vegetables so I like the mixed vegetables so you get a whole bunch of stuff in there and also a can of chicken as much chicken as you want to put in there you could do a 5 oz can if you want i like the 12 oz can or a 16 oz pint that I can myself whatever way to go you could do either doesn’t really matter and you can use this little pizza crust packet which is great mix up that dough and put it right over the top spread it out thin and it’s going to work perfect you could pop this in the oven if you had to put it in a Dutch oven over the fire that would work as well it’s going to cook that crust right up for you so this one might take a little bit longer because you want to make sure that dough is done but it doesn’t take a super long time and this is simple and easy and just add whatever seasonings you like into your pot pie we like a little bit of thyme you could put Italian seasoning um we put margarm in there we put all kinds of stuff salt pepper onion garlic all that stuff having those spices on hand is important you could definitely throw them right in the bag with this so you have them handy but I find it easier to just leave it in the pantry and I can just grab the spices I want and do it as I’m cooking it and meal number three is just a simple chicken pesto and pasta it’s really super simple and easy just boil up that pasta shred up your chicken while it’s cooking you can throw everything in one pot once that uh pasta is done and drained just toss in your chicken your pesto and you’re good to go you can add other seasonings if you like this is pretty good just the way it is though it doesn’t taste bad at all and it is super fast and easy and these meals are also extremely budget friendly because you can feed quite a few people with them uh four to six some of them eight people uh for under $5 mostly around5 $6 a couple of them but they are not bad at all they’re really affordable and for eight people if you can feed them for5 or $6 that’s pretty good and meal number four is just a simple tuna noodle you could do this as a casserole as a skillet meal however you wanted to do it it works great in the oven as a casserole or you can do it right on the stove top in a skillet and it’s still delicious um I’ve got two boxes of macaroni and cheese here uh one can of cream of celery or you could use cream of chicken whatever you have on hand both are delicious and a couple cans of tuna and if your family is smaller only one or two people you could bag these up and use like half of your can with one box of mac and cheese and one can of tuna and just do it that way break it down a little bit for smaller meals if it’s just one or two in your family but if you’ve got a family of four or more you’re definitely going to want at least two boxes of the mac and cheese and the tuna and you could even add to it if you have a much larger family but this is super simple cook your mac and cheese the way you always do add your cream of celery or cream of chicken and your tuna you can toss it in at 350 in the oven add any seasoning that you want to it really and um anything that you like allpurpose seasoning is always good in there and uh because it’s got a little bit of salt onion garlic things like that just one of those allpurpose ones are great and you can whip this up in the oven and if your oven isn’t working if the grid’s down this can be done in a skillet over the fire on the barbecue over in a pot with candles however you can cook and meal number five is a simple lentil soup it is so basic and easy but it tastes really good it doesn’t have a lot of ingredients and if you wanted to make this vegetarian you could switch out the chicken broth for a vegetable broth and that would do the trick for you um just a couple a cup or so of lentils uh I’ve got two cans of chicken broth and a can of diced tomatoes and I like the green chilies and I just spice this up with whatever I like garlic onion thyme whatever it is that we feel like at the moment you can make it a bunch of different ways you can add more vegetables to this if you’d like to or you can just go the way it is it is really super budget friendly and good and fills up that belly and those lentils have a good amount of protein in them as well and meal idea number six this one is so yummy i just love it um it is a barbecued pineapple and chicken um I like to serve it over rice you could do it over noodles as well um I just threw a bag of rice in here then you can cook as much rice as your family needs if it’s not quite enough food adding a little bit more rice does the trick and when you are putting your barbecue sauce in I like to save my juices from all of my cans when I’m cooking instead of adding water to thin something down I like to use the juices from the can so the chicken broth I will save from that and the pineapple and that way the barbecue sauce is a little bit thick for us for what we like so we like to add a little bit of those juices in just to thin it down to the consistency that we want and I just toss my pineapple in a pan really simple and easy on a medium heat and then I throw in my chicken and barbecue sauce and just get everything nice and warm and then thin that barbecue sauce down and I start my rice first cuz that takes the longest and uh just cook your white rice how you always cook it or brown or jasmine or any kind of rice that you like this is such a super simple and easy preparedness project you can dig through your pantry grab up the ingredients put them in bags i like to write it on a little card and not on the bag and I can reuse the cards over and over and I don’t have to worry about making the same one later i can just put the card away when I want to make it I can do it that way and but these are great for emergency situations because they don’t take a lot of fuel everything’s all cooked so just a little bit of pasta maybe or rice you might have to cook but they are super simple and easy to put together and they are super affordable and they’re also wonderful for when you’re in a hurry or you just don’t know what to make for dinner but you don’t feel like deciding or standing in the kitchen for hours these are fast simple affordable and great for all kinds of situations and you can make a ton of these up in very little time which is wonderful and have them ready get your pantry prepared so it can work for you and your family and that’s it for today i hope you enjoyed this video and I hope to see you next time bye [Music] [Music]

Good idea to have meals in a bag with the recipe card. I was just thinking what a good idea fur Christmas gifts for my young nieces and nephews who are on the go. They'll love these.
This is a WONDERFUL idea! The money saved by reusing the bags, cards, and budget brands (plus homemade or canned meats) really completes it. Now I have a new project to plan out and a reason to clear out some room. Excellent as always, Ginny.
Thank you so much!

Awesome ideas❤
Just in case, add a bottle ot two to use for cooking.
These are great for sharing with your neighbors/family during personal emergencies, too.
Great ideas! Too many preppers, especially the new ones, don't think of quick and easy, just long-term. Quick and easy is the FIRST preps you should have.
Thank you so much. Some of my favorite videos are these with the meals in the bags.
These are great meals to prep in case of emergency!
Always great content 👍😎
Thanks, Jinne. I've written these recipes down. I'm looking forward to trying the chickpea curry and the lentil soups.
Here's a recipe inspired by yours: Greens and Potatoes. Ingredients: 1 can greens, 1 can diced potatoes, 1 can chicken broth, red pepper flakes, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, black pepper.
Best wishes, all!
Tip… Put your seasonings in bag or pouch.seasoning salts or powder in case you have to leave home with it.🥰🥰🥰
Without stove put rice in slow cooker.
I really like these videos it gives me ideas! Never thought about using the pizza crust on top of a pot pie. I’ve never seen those great value pizza crust packets. I’m going to look when I do my shopping on Friday. I shop on Friday because that’s when the stores run there Friday only specials or their weekend specials starting on Friday.
1st recipe- I bet adding some lentils & turmeric would be awesome! 😊
