This is a long shot because the photo is so blurry, but this grass grows occasionally along the highway. Fairly rare. Anyone know what it is? The stalks remind me of a blue stem but the seed heads looks like miscanthus.the seed heads are little brooms. Approximately 1.5 feet tall.

  1. My first guess is King Ranch Bluestem, an invasive plant, because it is so pervasive along the roads (and in my yard) and it has seed heads like that.

    Hard to make a definitive ID off a photo like this but my guess would be *Chloris virgata* — it’s an exotic species, but you’re right that it’s fairly rare and generally grows on roadsides

    Whatever it is, it ain’t KR — you can tell by the fact that there’s only one of it
