Haven’t seen a dragonfly actively perched on my property since moving into the house Nearly 5 years go. Now we see them hunting nearly everyday since planting natives. Planting for biodiversity is paying off.

I’ve got black plastic over the front ‘yard’ right now, prep for fall native planting. Water pools in the low spots and it’s created a wild hunting zone for a swarm of dragonflies.

I just started seeing more here this year. In our 2nd full year of transitioning and filling in with natives. I’m sure that helps but it’s also been a very wet year here so far and I wonder how much that plays q part in it.

I’ve seen tons of dragonflies this year!
It’s my favorite part of planting natives.
