This terrarium is about 2 years old. I recently noticed what appears to be mold growing in the soil as well as the clay substrate below soil.
This is an ExoTera enclosure. I water the plants pretty liberally once weekly. There never seems to be any water collecting in the drain tube.
I have springtails and isopods. When I first set up the terrarium, I couldn’t see the springtails but now they always seem to congregate in the water dish, this makes me think the springtail population is growing. I never see the isopods.
I feed the tree frog house flies and weekly crickets.
All of this background info is to ask, what can be done at this point to get rid of the mold?

They’re harmless and if left alone long enough, they’ll fruit into yellow mushrooms. To somewhat get rid of them, you can scoop them out, stir up the substrate, or completely dry them out (probably not ideal for your animals). Even if you do get rid of them, as long as there’s moisture, they’ll always find a way to come back.
It’s flower pot fungus, and isopods and springtails do not consume it. You can try to remove some of it by hand, but there’s not really any way to get rid of it other than lessening the moisture level of the substrate or replacing all of the substrate. It is unsightly, but it’s typically harmless.
