My grandmother gave me her Golden Pothos, back in March, because she's no longer able to care for it (mentally/physically). I seriously can't believe it survived for so many years under her care. It was still in the original potting mix and container she received it in– a huge plastic "pot" without drainage holes, that sat inside a wicker gift basket. She proudly watered this plant EVERY DAY. 😳 There's no explanation as to how it didn't die, but I'll never tell her that. 🤫
It traveled from SoCal to Vegas, and was probably already stressed to begin with, so I gave it extra time to settle in here. Gave it its own Barrina T5 grow light (though I'm debating swapping it with one of my 4ft Barrina T8) and slowly acclimated it to less frequent watering. Since I repotted it last month, it has finally decided to show its true colors. Went from practically solid green, to pushing out gorgeous brightly variegated leaves!
It's pretty cool being able to see exactly where the growth under my grandmother's care stopped and where my care began. 🥰
The other day I noticed this new growth though! It's emerging from a node near the base (circled) of the longest vine (over 6ft long), but there are still new leaves growing from the tip.
Is this normal? Worrisome?
Will it stunt the growth of that vine, or simply branch off and develop into a second vine?

Yeah, it just activated one of its dormant axial buds. It can happen just randomly, and not commonly enough to be a reliable way of making a plant ‘fuller’
I didn’t know it was possible until my pothos started doing this 2 monts ago! Three new leafs have so far appeared on my longest vine, one even starts to vine itself i think, i’m waiting very eagerly for the outcome of that.
I have a rescue from March, that had vines without leaves for 20+ feet. I cut all but one back to the pot.
Last month, one of the rock hard, dried, decades old stems, sprang to life. Several nodes have flat out branched. There’s a foot or so of vine, and now three full branches off of it. Idk how, but I suspect, a bit, because it had rooted against the window on the old vine, that, the loss of that root hormone/signal, sent it into “rebuild everything!” Mode.
It’s odd. I don’t know how well it will do, because the vines growing are 4 times bigger than the rock hard, might as well be hickory stick, old vine, which I cant imagine will grow to size. Oh well. Take what I can get.
