Some young green thumbs in Anchorage spent the day getting their hands dirty—and loving it.
Anchor Gardens is hosting its Kids Summer Garden Club at the Mountain View branch of the Alaska Public Library, giving children a chance to learn about plants, gardening, and the joy of nurturing nature.
Held every two weeks throughout the summer, the club offers hands-on lessons on how to care for everything from flowers to vegetables. It’s part of an effort to introduce kids to the basics of gardening in a welcoming and interactive way.
“I think it’s amazing—it’s like a fun place to learn,” said Youth Services Librarian Kim Cameron. “It’s a fun, safe place to learn gardening. Judgment-free. We just have a wonderful little garden back here.”
The program is open to all kids, and no registration is required. Two sessions remain this summer: August 5 and August 19.
The garden club continues to bloom as a popular community activity, blending education and fun for Anchorage’s youngest nature lovers.
