This is our first summer with our native pollinator garden (eastern Massachusetts). This anise hyssop is beloved by bees and that’s been great to witness, and this is my first time seeing a goldfinch visitor!

I was surprised at how attracted to wildflowers goldfinches are. I planted some coreopsis, and not 10 minutes later a goldfinch was all over them!

  2. I leave the stalks up in the fall and the goldfinches peck at them through the winter

I have loads of volunteer sunflowers, and I get a fighting gang of goldfinches every year. Patiently waiting!

In my yard I see goldfinches on common evening primrose (Oenothera biennis) as soon as they set seed

FYI Korean Mint is often mistook for Anise Hyssop. There’s some subtle differences with the smell and under leaf appearance if you want to tell.

  6. They love my Wild Bergamot. It always feels so magical when a goldfinch stops by!

I picked up some random annual millet for interest while my natives are coming in. And these sweet babies showed up. This one is watching over its mate on the plant out of view.

I did what any normal person would do, and ran to the garden store and bought four more.

Looking forward to my full garden next year. No feeders for me with the 2-4 times weekly bear visits in my yard.

  8. I saw one on mine too! If you plant it they will come.

Agastache is one of my absolute favorites. It draws so many bees.
