Living spaces seamlessly flow around an eastern courtyard, blurring the lines between indoors and out. Multiple courtyards, strategically placed and infused with light from brick jaalis and clerestory windows, craft captivating patterns. Even the distinct, sunken office block, with its green roof, reflects this harmonious integration. This isn’t just a house; it’s a carefully orchestrated environment where every ray of light, every breeze, and every plant contributes to a life lived in harmony and tranquility.

[Music] [Birds chirping] [Water gurgling] [Ar. Kinnera Verma]: The house was envisioned to have a sense of empathy and silence, through
a play of light. We were keen to translate the owner’s ethos of
living mindfully. [Birds chirping] This project is an attempt
to experience space through light,
shade, and shadow, forgoing the conventional
way of defining a space through layouts and elements. [Water gurgling in fountain] Hi, this is Ar. Kinnera Verma
from Studio Inscape. Today, we are taking the tour of
this beautiful house in Hyderabad. For detailed information, you could have a look at
the chapters and the eBook on buildofy.com. The link is in the description below. [Upbeat music starts] Our client is a young couple, along with their toddler. They wanted to stay away
from the hustle of the city, that they were living in. That’s when they decided to buy a 11 acre chunk of land, which is in the western
suburbs of Hyderabad. A lot of like-minded
friends and relatives, basically wanted
very similar house within this context. And, this community organically grew and became a micro community, which is called ‘Vanam’. The plot area for this
particular premise is 1.5 acre. The residence is about
6,000 square ft., which accommodates
three bedrooms. And, they’re living and common spaces. And, it’s a G+1 structure. – [Pratap]: True luxury is sunlight and fresh air. Partly, I should thank
Buildofy for this. Because, when I decided
to build our home, I was scouting through
which architect to connect, and then, I saw one of the homes that was published by Buildofy. And, the firm’s name is
called Studio Inscape. That’s how I got connected to Chaitanya. One thing led to the other, and, this is where we are. -[Pavitra]: Our initial brief to
Studio Inscape was that, we shouldn’t switch on
lights before sunset. We grow our own fruits, our own vegetables. Every morning, my daughter
takes her little basket. She goes and plucks
flowers for pooja. She goes and harvests what
vegetables are there, that day. This sounds fake, but it’s not. Really, she does that. -[Ar. Kinnera]: A slight curved wall is done. This is basically to
direct the user, from outside into the
office, if required. The broader driveway leads
us to the main house. We tilted the building, that is, the residence to true north. We did this, so that we could
actually get true light. And, the courtyards actually function the way
we designed it to be. As we move by, we also see the
car parking of the house. We are at the main door
of the house, which is accessed through a shallow but a wide verandah. What’s unique about this door is, it has a double shutter. It has a flap, within the main shutter
of the door. What this does is, it takes care of the safety
aspect of the user, by having a jaali pattern. But, at the same time,
it has another flap. Once you open this flap, your main door
is still open. And, there is always
air circulation. And, you’re visually connected
to the outside. We get this beautiful
north and east light during the mornings,
on this foyer flooring. As we move towards the right, this is a multi-purpose space used by the clients
to basically watch TV. As we move towards our left, the living room has
an open seating setup. As you move further ahead, is where you see the beautiful
linear corridor of the house. This linear corridor gives us a nice, again a scaled-down
form finished slab through which we
actually get to experience these two beautiful east and
west courtyard. The adjoining spaces
with this courtyard are living room, dining
space and the kitchen. There’s an interesting
feature of the kitchen wall where the louvered windows
of the kitchen, open into this courtyard. Also, you could see
the concrete fins that we have done. They basically cut down
the amount of light. If you see the brick jaali behind, this was done
intentionally to be porous. so that the clients could actually
have a view to the outside landscape. As we move further ahead, there is a nice functional kitchen which again, have a window
towards the east. As per the client requirements, we had placed the master bedroom, adjoining these common spaces, in terms of ease of utility of the space. We’ve created two exit
and entry points to the other rear and
the side end of the site. Where these doors are treated as pivoted doors, with retractable
louvered systems. When these actually open up, and you are walking
through the house, is where these points
actually act as stop points where you get to experience
the outdoors while staying indoors. We are near the transitional
courtyards of the house where we have this beautiful
cosmic kind of light coming in from
these courtyards. These were intentionally
located near the bedroom spaces. So that, they act as the
spillover spaces. There’s a single flight staircase that we have used
to go to the upstairs. This is deliberately done
to be a wide staircase which is about 6 feet and this is located right
next to the courtyard. As we take the stairs, and reach to the first floor, the first floor basically
accommodates multi-purpose spaces,
study spaces of the house, and the terraces. As you walk out of
the study space, is where you find a
semi-open space with a slab above it, but no walls. These terraces actually give us visual access to these courtyards. This is the entry of
the entire site area. And, as you move forward, is where you see a nice
wash concrete driveway, that leads to the entry of the office. We kind of scaled down
the entire structure, and we made it very monolithic with the use of single material
which is concrete. And, the flooring of
the office is Jaisalmer. This structure has been
sunken by about 3 feet from the ground
level of the landscape. The roof of this particular home office, has a nice lawn
and a green patch over it. This was intentionally done. One is to give it a nice cooling effect. Secondly, we wanted it to
be more scaled down. The client was very clear about how they wanted
the house to look like. They wanted a nice, clean,
contemporary house. Something that’s not
ornamented a lot. This house very much feels like a silent boulder sitting on a piece of land. And, that is exactly what
we wanted to recreate. [Music fades]

  1. What i love about the house is its so airy and bright and i love the patterns the sunlight makes on the floor thro the jaali wall design. You feel like lying down on the floor with the patterned sunlight hitting you. Truly beautiful home. Congrats to the design and build team and best wishes and love to the owners❤

  2. Beautiful, bold, well ventilated, ample light, true farm house with open spaces without any unwanted walls. Expansive living and dining with beautiful views and well structured, thought out terrace area. Utilitarian house and green space…not very flashy but very homely. Very well conceived and executed. Kudos to the young architect.

  3. Absolutely breathtaking!

Firstly, congratulations StudioInscape, for your second project on Buildofy. This project surpassed your first feature( the farm house). I am a Hyderabadi too and feel so proud to see young guns like y'll, designing homes with a lot of sensitivity, and responsibility towards the environment. This project is a testimony to the fact that in today's time, light is a luxury in urban homes.

In my personal opinion, homes can speak of luxury without actually using luxurious materials. Especially in a place like Hyderabad ,which is seeing continuous high end homes in everycorner of the city, this project feels like a breath of fresh air.

  4. Lifestyle redefined! It’s the need of the hour. Staying away in serene surroundings and enjoying the Nature is a real bliss. Further growing vegetables, fruits and flowers in our own farm is definitely a necessary LUXURY. Well designed and executed. All the best 🎉Hope to see many many more…

  5. Wow!!!, this is absolutely phenomenal, the aesthetics are amazing, kudos to the owner and the team, this house design will be aspirational

  6. On a lighter note, the client must be very rich to buy 11acres in Hyderabad, that too in the WEST.. in such premium concept based community plots.

  7. What kind of crazy rich these people are. How are they earning such money???

Plus i Hate to see Budhha randomly seating in a garden area. Budhha has become a decor item for crazy rich people

  8. OBV parents might be rich, lol an acre of land in west hyd costs atleast 10 crores, and 11 means easily 110crores

  9. The best part of this house is …the owner man have suddh DESU KUTTA Street dog 🐶 proud of him for such choice …you are real man ❤

  10. Beautiful home and a great idea to have natural light until sunset. And a great idea of living within a micro community.

  11. it wil kind of you to please mention the total budge in every video…. it is very important for a person like me who is dreaming to have a house like this

  12. Why dogs in the house? Dog is a filthy animal according to Hinduism. My Indian neighbour in stockholm sprayed red chilli powder around their villa and lawn so dogs would not come around.

  13. This house is not Vaastu compliant as the kitchen is not on the right corner (south-east). Maybe the owner is not concerned about Vaastu.
