Just moved into my first house and found this in my side yard my first morning. Wife and I are unsire if it's eggs or a fungus. Any help would be appreciated! Just outside of St. Louis, apologies if wrong sub.

Almost looks like an animal scat of blackberries. Any bears in your neighborhood?

If this is a real photo, this appears to be frog or toad eggs. Is this area very damp?

Nostoc: blue green algae due to overwatering with poor drainage.

My guess is some type of black Slime Mold fungus, but I’m no expert.

Google fu says it’s a colony of Nostoc commune. a genus of cyanobacteria also known as blue-green algae.

Those look like frog eggs, never seen a huge clump like that before though. Is you home near water?

Zooming in absolutely looks like eggs of some kind, but Lordy, that’s a LOT of eggs!
