Can anyone identify this fast-growing plant that has popped up next to our hydrangeas? It looks like a weed or a tree and doesn't seem to belong. Should I remove it? Just moved into a new house in New Jersey.

That’s an ash. They can be pesky fast growers. You should remove this one. They should be cherished in the landscape, not along your foundation.

Crush the leaves do they smell like fruit loops?

Anyone know the best way to get rid of this one? I can cut it using a Sawzall but how would I remove the stump? Its not too thick yet..
