Hi everyone! My husband purchased this plant 1,5 weeks ago, potted it with fresh earth with a thin layer of plant granules and gave it a bit of plant food (picture attached). We noticed it was starting to droop this weekend despite being watered earlier in the week, the earth was dry so we gave it a bit more water (it was a warm weekend of 27 degrees Celsius) and we have a skylight in the living room that allows in a lot of sun. Any idea what could be wrong and what we can still do to save it? 😢 Maybe worth mentioning that the bottom of the pot is closed so there’s no hole in it. Thank you

Peace lily’s are notoriously dramatic, it’s probably fine. You need to find a good watering schedule. When it starts drooping it needs water, but don’t over water it.
Idk man I sometimes water mine weekly on particularly sunny weeks and it looks like she gets lots of light. I just go by the droop, slightly drooped – a drink.
As previously mentioned, just dramatic and needs water, it would be best to have it in an inner pot as well which has drainage holes and then take it out to drench the soil in the shower or something, otherwise probably water it whenever it gets droopy and the soil dry 🙂
A pot without a drainage hole will almost certainly lead to plant death, unless you are quite experienced and are able to detect moisture level at the bottom of the pot, for example with a moisture meter.
It’s quite possible that there’s been water sitting in the bottom of the pot since you repotted and you’ve developed a root rot problem.
It’s quite feasible that the top layer of soil would be dry, but it’s soggy at the base of the pot.
I’d recommend getting a pot with a drainage hole, taking the plant out of the pot and have a look at the roots. If they’re soft and dark colored, that’s root rot.
I also wander if you’ve over-fertilized. Chemical fertilizer can burn the roots, especially if the plant is stressed, for example after a report or when moving to a new environment (e.g. shop -> home).
Peace Lilies don’t need a lot of fertilizer and tend to be dramatic, as has been noted by others. While they’re fairly hardy and good starter plants, they let you know fast and with bold moves if they’re unhappy.
Only water peace lilies when they droop, and when they do, fully soak soil till the water runs out the bottom…I put mine in the shower. They’re the best bc they physically tell you when they need a drink.
Peace Lillies are just dramatic and start to “wilt” when thirsty
Peace lilies often wilt for a couple of weeks after repotting. Don’t over water hoping it will perk up. Keep the soil slightly damp but don’t let it get soggy. Don’t let the soil dry out completely either
Peace lilies don’t like too much sun, they prefer indirect light
You shouldn’t fertilise after repotting, poting soil is usually soaked with fertiliser
It’s not a good idea to repot plants you just bought. They are already under stress from the environment change. In my experience peace lilies are quite susceptible to transplant shock, so this might be why it’s drooping. Hopefully it just needs a good drink like others have said though. I’d recommend using filtered water for your peace lily if possible.
Do you bottom water?
It’s just a drama queen. Give it a drink.
Needs more water
r/groenevingers for advice in dutch. If you want
Mine died after I fertilized it Js.
Hopefully yours is overwatered.
Wateeeeeer
Nope it’s just being a turd.
Give it a drink.

I have had this peace lily for 25 years and I’ve only repotted it twice! I water it once a week. They really are super easy. They don’t love a lot of soil. They can survive on little soil. Morning sun is fine.
Make sure it doesn’t have any pests although mine have been exposed to the outside MULTIPLES of times and has never gotten anything. They are super hardy.
Here is my best advice for peace lilies. Make sure it is in slightly chunky soil. Make sure there is plenty of drainage in your pot, (the soil should dry out within a week). Don’t wait until the leaves droop before watering. Pick the pot up every day and get the feeling of what it feels like dry. Water when it starts feeling light. I bottom water to make sure the whole root ball is wet but that’s up to you. If the leaves start to droop, there is a survival mode that gets triggered in your plant and it might start sacrificing leaves because it is trying to stay alive.
It is: Cradle of Moses.
This post made me start caring for my peace lily
After killing few, I learned that they need good light. Mine is kept under 24w sansi bulb and it has been thriving since then. Second thing, watering depends on how much light your plant is getting as well. To resolve this I always check this with moisture meter.
I would like to chime in with the following: I advise you to repot the plant to a pot with drainage as people have said and also a smaller one. I understand that peace lilies like to be potted tightly and it seems this pot is rather large (I may be wrong because I haven’t seen the roots). If you really like the pot (it is very cute), you can keep using it as an “over pot” for the one that has drainage. Just be aware to not let water sit on the bottom.
Good luck!
