I just bought a new house and am going to hydro seed the yard and make a pea gravel fire pit area but wasn’t sure if I should make a paver retaining wall or just hydro seed the drop off. What should I do?
I rounded my transitions so the mower doesn’t scalp it. Had to add dirt in a few places and replant to get it perfect, but was good. I do have more yard than you, like a 90×90′ area.
I would push dirt and make one large flat area myself. I just did another area for the kids this spring and pushed some dirt from the higher area to the lower to get a 20-25 foot square 1 degree grade. As long as the transitions are comfortable to walk, you should be fine, and safer/easier than a wall and solid once grass is in.
