I am the OP – not to be confused with the post that got more views and likes with my LiDAR picture (IM NOT MAD).
Attached is newly calibrate LiDAR scans (calibrated to Banana scale) show a max of 5 Yards and Min of 3.54. Will be showing this as evidence to their corporate office, and if necessary, the small claims court. Will keep you updated. It is now my life’s mission to get 8 Yards of rock.
Addressing previous questions:
– Supplier is from Tampa Bay Area
– Supplier clearly states it’s in yards (not tons), even defining it in a drop down menu.
– LiDAR was done with “3D Scanner App” and “SR Measure”. (Not affiliated)
– Banana is organic and free of GMO’s
– No, I will not sell you my reddit account for 20$.
Thank you for all your feedback
I will update if/when the real 8 yard pile is delivered.

I’m deeply invested in this saga. Send the guy the banana scale pic along with the lidar to really break his final few brain cells.
Go after the cheater, OP! I might attend the court hearing if it goes that far!
If I were in Tampa I would attend the hearing too!
Would you take 3-4.46 yards of rock in exchange for your Reddit account? Final offer. Will allow you to scan prior.
I asked for driveway gravel and thought I got that. But I also got tiny pieces of rusted metal, plastic trash, ceramic, and smooth glass rocks. Now I spend my free time picking things out. These people dgaf about being honorable.
Why aren’t you naming them?
that looks like 9 yards after shoveling
Finally someone takes on the landscape suppliers with their “yard” measurement system that never is accurate.
We finally got our local mulch supplier to admit he was selling us scoops from his tractor bucket —- and not! a yard of mulch. 😆
That’s definitely not 8 yards that looks closer to 5
Was the LiDAR scanner itself your phone? I do surveying professionally and will totally be upgrading phones if this is the case, that seems so fun to mess around with!
I’m just happy I saw a LiDAR picture today after watching Graham and Joe talk about them using it in the Amazon lol
Can’t wait for more updates
lol. Looks like about 6 bobcat buckets or ~3.2CY or 8Tn of rock to me.
Could you simply count many times this load fills a leveled wheelbarrow or whatever you use and figure out the volume of that and multiple it by the amount of loads you got?
Also provide an update on the French drain. Soil erosion is a real issue.
I would notify your local Attorney General as well. Not sure about FL, but ours here in NC is very good.
Regardless of whether you get this resolved to your satisfaction, they will most likely keep doing it to others if it turns out to be legit fraud and not an honest mistake.
This is the level of precise+petty I aspire to. It would never occur to me to use lidar
Can you give us a breakdown of the hardware and software used to make this magic happen?
So most materials like stone and sand are sold by the ton. Yard is volume. Some materials may appear as a bigger pile. Stone is loose. Dirt is very compact.
Does the department of weights and measures have skin in this game?
Math and bananas for the win.
I admire your dedication
You have officially become one of my favorite people ever.
That may be 8 tons, but not 8 yards. I have a 5 ton dumpbed trailer, and 8 yards wouldn’t fit. But this would.
Good for you Op, that’s no where near 8 yards. I can’t believe they didn’t own up to it, what a bunch of morons.
It’s also possible they think it’s closer to 8 than it is. Skid steers and small wheel loaders come stock with 1/2 and 2/3 yard buckets, respectively. You have to custom order 1 yard buckets because a lot of materials are too heavy to load a yard at a time. They may not even be aware of it, or just don’t care. A lot of material yards will load with the 2/3 and call it scoops or yards.
I’ve never been more invested in a petty dispute over 5k miles away in my entire life. Thank you for your service, good sir.
This shit is bananas. B-A-N-A-N-A-S
HAHA
How much did they charge you
bro hold up three fingers. that will tell us a few things.
I have no idea how I ended up on the sub. I know nothing about landscaping, but dammit I want you to get the whole 8yards!
So what coincidence took place such that OP/customer has posted at least twice about this, AND the guy who delivered the rock ALSO made a post about it, something like “Oh shit this customer caught me shorting him on rock what do I do now?”
