Looks like they are making quick work of those leaves.

  2. RelationshipGlum1932

Japanese beetles. They’ll eat everything but the veins of the leaf on the plants they like. Spray bifentherin.

  3. Every_Television_290

Japanese beetles, grab them and put them in soapy water to kill them. Do that 5x per day. 🙂

  4. WillKillz

Damn I hate those fuckers. But I just realized I haven’t seen these guys in a few years. They really did a number on my climbing roses that I no longer have.

  5. I recall they had traps for them, you hung a bag with a little doo dad on top which would attract them, kill them and dispose of them in the bag.

  6. More_Impression_8443

Yes, Japanese Beetles. Spray for them, and treat your lawn for grubs(their larval stage).

  7. geoffcooray55

Aren’t those the beetles from 1999 film “The Mummy” starring Brendan Fraser, that crawl into your skin and eat your insides?

  8. Madwhisper1

Yeah, Japanese beetle grubs do significant lawn damage, then they come out of the ground as beetles and damage everything else.

  9. These killed two cherry trees in my yard. I wasn’t as knowledgeable then as I am now, and did not treat aggressively enough to kill them.

  10. GlovePlane6923

Don’t use traps. They just attract more of them.

  11. Mental-Heron-4323

    Satan’s jelly bean. Destroy immediately.

  12. elondon81

Japanese beetle. Yes. Needs to be dealt with.

  13. paddywhack

Get a small bucket with soapy water, use a stick or something and bat them into the bucket. Super satisfying and they quickly drown. Repeat every day for a week or so and you will knock them back substantially.

  14. rojo-perro

Might need to treat your lawn as well. Grubs in turf.

  15. brentemon

Japanese Beetles. Yes be worried, but it’s also too late. They’ll destroy all your broad leaf foliage. Beetle traps keep the numbers down, but can’t completely get rid of the little fuckers.

Battled them three years running now and I guess next year I won’t plant anything broad leaf 🙁

  16. Gustavo_Polinski

These little bastards have been swimming in my pool

  17. Acceptable_Ad3807

Japanese beetles. Yes. Bucket of soapy water. Shake them into the bucket and they’ll die.

  18. Ugh I just found a couple of them eating my pepper plants and I’ve been trying to keep them away. They’re evil

  19. StellaandLeo

I knock these off my plants into a bucket with soapy water. They will die in the soapy water. They also let out pheromones that attract more insects, so it’s best to nip it in the bud

  20. Get one of those Japanese beetle traps. And hang it on a tree in your least liked neighbor.

  21. Sugardaddyshugar

Thats John, Paul, George…where is Ringo??

  22. Gimme_Perspective

You can get a bag trap on stake for these Japanese beatles. My neighborhood has couple of traps scattered and they empty them out like 3 times a season. The trap has some kind of pheromone to attract the beatles and they fall deep into the bag. It’s wicked to see them all piled inside with some heads sticking out.

Set the trap a slight away from your garden so they get lured elsewhere.

  23. Back2DaLab

Japanese beetles. The invasive fuckers will eat everything, host mass orgies in your favorite trees, and then their babies will destroy your grass. Kill.

I suggest trying sprays, repellents, or the soapy water-bucket method instead of the traps. My Nextdoor neighbor uses the traps and my lawn on that side was ravished by grubs last year. The traps work, but the beetles that actually fall in the trap are a small representation of the mass of beetles it’s attracting.

  24. ThrifToWin

Imidacloprid. You can get an industrial fuckton of it on Amazon then use tiny amounts in a sprayer in the turf.

One of these bit the tip of my dick once when I planned to cannonball him in my pool, FAFO.

Japanese beetles and I’m thankful they no longer live on my property. I had holes almost in every plant. Unsure what the city did to curb the issue but I havent seen one in almost a decade.

  26. Brokenecklace

Try food grade Diatomaceous Earth, on Amazon. It works!

  27. Russells_Tea_Pot

Look into having milky spore applied. It will wipe them out for many years.

  28. LeadingResearch

They’ll eat your roses and their larvae eat your grassroot

  29. You must be new to Pennsylvania. They’ve been there for decades.

  30. mcgyver229

get a cup of water with a bit of soap and flick them off the leaves into it. Fuck those things.

  31. cookorsew

Japanese beetles! Neem oil works quite well. Also hand picking and dropping into soapy water, flush them in the toilet. Smooshing them releases something that attracts more. Hire a neighbor kid, pay a nickel per bug. Or hand collect into a ziploc, freeze them, find someone with chickens. I also found spraying them off high trees with a hose works kind of ok, but they do swoop you but are harmless. Eradicate them! They’re so invasive!

Treat your grass, they spawn from the lawn. Maybe even treat the neighbors. Even better if you all band together and do it at once. Grub killer, make sure it’s not harmful to beneficial bugs. I think these also can make the lawn lumpy, so treating the grubs is super important.

  32. the7egend

I went on vacation, and came back to a load of these Japanese Beetles breeding and eating on one of my plum trees. An application of Neem Oil later and they’re gone.

  33. Dry-Possible-8641

Japanese beetles. An invasive beetle that eats the leaves on just about everything. When I lived in PA, we had these everywhere. We had traps for them that kind of liked like a stereotypical airplane b*mb. It was a green metal base with yellow “fins” in top. They would climb in and couldn’t get out. Then we’d take the full one, and put it in a bucket of kerosene to kill the beetles, then we’d burn them. We’d fill up each trap a couple times a week, that’s how many we had there. If we didn’t do this, they’d eat most of the leaves on the trees, bushes and veggie plants in our garden. The traps we used were reusable and I can’t seem to find those anymore. If we had disposable ones, we would have been blowing through money on those traps.

Japanese beetles. Don’t squish them because their pheromones will attract more from a huge area around you.

I buy neem oil and spray my plants with it. If you go this route, get the concentrate because it’s cheaper to mix it yourself.

This fall, I’ll be applying milky spore to my yard as part of long term management to kill the beetles.

  35. chilebean77

This years adults were born as grubs last year. They live in your lawn soil. You need to treat your lawn for grubs (next years adult beetles) NOW. Almost too late in the life cycle to do so. Acelepryn G from domyown

  36. it_twasnt_Me

They make bags to catch them. Bang them in the yard. INSANE how many you will catch

  37. dannygthemc

Knock them into a bucket of soapy water.

They must die and they must not be squished

Spray the Japanese beetles with a solution of dish soap and water can kill them. The soapy water disrupts the beetles’ exoskeletons, causing them to suffocate and die. This method is a safe and effective way to control these pests without using harsh chemicals. Here’s how to use this method: Mix the solution: Combine a couple of tablespoons of dish soap (like Dawn) with water in a spray bottle or other container.

  39. magicpeepeecawk

Them’s Jap beetles. I’d bomb em. Twice.

  40. ThatGuyGetsIt

If you know anyone local with chickens they’d probably take them. Chickens love these fuckers.

  41. Japanese beetle..you have grubs in your lawn. Grubs are beetle larvae. You can kill the beetles with Sevin.

  42. Simple-Hurry6670

Japanese beetles. Yes kill them. They make traps you can hang around for them. They will ruin your garden if you don’t do anything.

If you want to do it by hand it’s possible since they are so striking in appearance it’s easy to see them. Pluck them off and drop them in a bucket of soapy water.
