Hello!

Hoping to get some advice on an issue we are having. I apologize in advance for the long read but this is giving me some anxiety and it is supposed to rain quite heavily here in the next few days. Hoping to try and fix it over the weekend.

When it rains heavily, water starts to pool at the corner of the pathway (it is located at the top left, off screen in picture). When it gets too much, the water starts to creep closer to the house (red arrow) and accumulates here which isn't ideal since it's close to the foundation and front steps.

Things to note:

  • the pathway which is sort of seen in the picture is sandwiched between this patch of dirt and our lawn. However the lawn sits a little higher than the path (small hill, about an inch or two above the path)

  • the corner of the pathway is slightly slanted towards the house

  • we recently got landscaping work done (not on this side because budget reasons) but there used to be a cement border around this area, the kind you can get from Home Depot and that sort of interlocks together. They were removed when the work was being carried out and we didn't think to put them back but I guess that's what was keeping the water away from this area.

Looking for DIY ideas that we can possibly carry out this weekend. Any help or advice would be extremely appreciated!

If you've made it this far, thank you for reading!

Put the border back or fill up the area with more material. You need it higher than the lawn.
