recently re-potted golden pothos, black tips on the leaves of two newly growing ends.
I've had a thrip outbreak but in a completely different part of the house this plant is already isolated.

sits by a window and gets direct light half the day. water every couple of weeks max, always wait for the soil to dry out first.

I can't see any thrips on the leaves as of yet and it's only struggling in two new places.

I've never been able to survive a thrip infest and I love this plant so much 😭

not looking like pest but root rot perhaps

Honestly to me those spots look like mechanical damage. Is it possible that something or someone has bumped into the plant and caused some of it to become squished or rubbed up against something?

I would keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn’t spread, but it really just looks like it got a little damaged.

I can’t see any thrips but I get your worry because of the new growth damage, but it could be a number of other things.

Thrips are most visible on the underside of leaves. If you see any black dots, check very very close and if you have thrips you would be able to see thrips/poop/damage. Typically the poop dots will be around damage.

Necrosis on new growth can be a pest, but it’s typically from the roots being kept too moist. (You’ll also see chlorosis with a pest ) This is usually about watering frequency, but low light can exacerbate the issue since photosynthesis is a process that uses water. Plants in brighter light dry the pot more quickly. I suggest reducing watering frequency and/or increasing light exposure, whichever is more applicable to your situation. Best of luck!

edit: I just noticed the location, so I recommend waiting just a bit longer prior to watering. 💚

  5. Do you have a pet? One of my cats caused damage that looked almost exactly like that to one of my plants by trying to play with it before I moved it to a higher shelf.

to me personally it looks like an overwatering issue or maybe the leaves brushed up against something and caused damage to the leaves.
