Very new to these plants. A friend gave me this as a cutting a few years ago. It never grew more than 2 leaves. I admit I probably should have done my research then. I didn’t. I wasn’t the best plant parent at the time but I want to do better. I had this in full sunlight for most of the day so I’m reading indirect is best in a more moist environment? Would this plant do better in my bathroom where it will get regular humidity from our showers?

Any tips would be appreciated. I’d really love to get this plant healthy again. The soil it’s in seems to be an orchid mix.

Thank you!

Soil doesn’t look too bad but may not have many or any nutrients. The key to these is letting them dry out almost 50-70% of the pot between waterings. I’d either start fertilizing or repot with some similar AIRY mix with nutrients. Chop the dead top tip off if it’s hollow or squishy. If it’s woody leave it. As for “bathroom humidity” that’s a lie that no one on Reddit talks about. Unless someone was taking a steaming hot shower every couple hours in there, the ambient humidity from a bathroom won’t be that great. These things thrive in CONSISTENT HUMIDITY and anywhere between 69-79 degreees. Any higher temp would require much more humidity and drying out periods. Good luck !

I rehabbed an A. regale which lost all leaves after impotted. and a A. luxurians with root rot after a repot.

Both were put in a plastic bag with damp sphagnum mos, kept warm ( on a terrarium heatmat). They where kept in there untill there was rootgrowth. Then the bag was opened but the plants where left in there untill a leave appeared. My regale just had a 80 cm leaf my luxuriand is putting out it’s first (small) leaf ( took about 5/6 months)
