Hi Guys, I would finally like to make my first terrarium after about 6 months of watching videos, reading up, and following this group. I have a rabbits foot fern that isn’t so happy in its current pot and a fittonia that is growing really well. Would these be good to start with? I have been saving glass jars and would eventually like to make a large terrarium from an old demijon that I have for wine making. I’m scared to start that big on the first try. Advice please! Also, I have many house plants and all the supplies for houseplant needs….orchid bark, horticulture charcoal, soil, vermiculite, pearlite, small stones, worm castings etc. I know a lot of this transfers over to terrarium making. However, I see sphagnum moss used quite a bit. But it looks different than the sphagnum peat(see pic) I have for outdoor use. Can they be used interchangeably? Really just looking for the courage to start and not kill something.🫣

Man do I feel that. It goes away once you get into the process and becomes very relaxing. Terrarium scaping feels like Minecraft imo. Just go for it. It’s simple and you already know a lot of the for dos and donts. Starting small also helps.
Also:
Peat == sphagnum (for terraria).
Anything with a bottleneck is going to be extra difficult, even with aquascaping tweezers. It’s a real pain. Just use one of the straight sided jars.
Scape-wise: slope substrate to the back, moss is boss, find some hardscape elements, etc.
