This is my first SOH. It seems healthy, but the length of the plant is disproportionate to the base. That long section on the right all originates from a single stem, and it seems like a lot of weight for it to carry, so I’d like to trim it back (probably quite a bit).

I thought I would propagate the cutting(s), and put the original plant on a circular form to ease the stress on the few stems supporting the plant.

What’s the best strategy for the cuttings? Circle them around a new pot of soil and pin them? Root in water? Plant directly with/without rooting hormone? I think I’m going to have enough cuttings to add back to the base of the original as well as start a new plant for hanging.

I know a lot of people wind a strand around the top and maybe pin down for it to root. I’ve never had any luck with that method. I usually take cuttings and bury them node down in the soil. I’ve found SOH tricky since they’re so delicate.
