Hello and welcome to Veggie Patch Ideas. Today it’s all about this beauty and it’s a all-in-one weather station. That’s it. Just call me John Ketley the weatherman because this is going to tell me exactly what the weather’s doing and when. I’m not going to get caught out with those frosts again. And as gardeners, we know the weather is so important. Let’s see what this little thing can do. Today I’ve got a smile on my face. We’re reviewing this weather station. As gardeners, we all know we’ve been caught out by that frost once too many times. Well, it’s not going to happen anymore. We’ve got ourselves a weather station and it’s from Velva. This one, it says it does a lot. It says it does everything, even rainfall. It’s got built-in barometer. It’s a dog’s balls. But as you know, I’m renovating my house and I want to fill my greenhouse and my a lotment full of tech. So, we’ll start here. Now, I’ve had a peek already, but let’s get inside the box and see what we have. Now, first up, it is extremely well packaged and we’ll go through what’s inside. And first up, we have all the instruction manuals, which I do need to read. A huge monitor. Now, this is for the house, and this is where we’ll get all the digital information from. The stand or the feet for the stand. Another clip for the stand. Now, this is the attachment that sits inside here and it’s on a ball. So, we can get this dead level because there is a rainfall sensor on here. So, if we level it perfectly and there is a spirit level, we can get that accurate rainfall. We have the weather vein. So, this will tell us the direction of the wind. and the wind speed gauge, which is what you see spinning around, power cable, all the screws we need, tools, which will come in handy, and the main vent. [Applause] Now, this is the part. This sits onto the ball. This is your solar panel. So, no power to this. It’s all done by the sun. This is the rain collection meter. So, more screws. This one fits onto the ball like so. And then into the machine itself. And that’s where we’ll get our level. And like I said, we do have a spirit level here. These are for the sensors. Now this is the rain meter which we have the rain collector here. So looks exciting. It is exciting. And the rain meter just pops on like that once we get all this done. So, let’s set it up and let’s get into it. So, to set it up, it looks fairly straightforward. Remove before use. So, that’s done. And we’ll leave the solar power for now, but there is a ticket to take off there. Let’s get the rain sensor on first. And this just clips on. As you can see, it has a little well inside. And this will fill up, tip in, fill up, tip in. And that will give us our measurements. And it’s just a push down and twist for the rain sensor. Now, for these, we’ve got a little screw on, and they are marked. So, weather vein and tighten that up. Now, I like I like to loosen the screw first. Lefty loosey. Like so. It’s pretty much there. So, as for the base and what I’ve just noticed on the bottom, there is a reset button there in case the calibration is off. So, there it is up and about. Now, I will be mounting this up on a perglar that we’re putting up here along with grape vines. So, we’re going to have to set it up on this desk for now. just to show you what sort of readings we can get and how this thing actually works inside the house when it’s connected. And it says on the instructions that this should be facing south. It’s a south facing garden, so we’re on it with the rain collector facing north. So, let’s screw this down and get on with it. So, going through the beautiful screen that you get with this unit, the outdoor temperature, it says on the top 26.2 and the humidity outside is 42. So, in the UK, very, very dry today. Uh, indoor, we’ve got 25.5° and the humidity of 46. and it’s showing the direction of wind is northwest and it’s 0.4 and that’s that one in the middle. We have a feels like temperature and a heat index in there as well. Also, this unit comes with a due point and a relative pressure, the light over this side and the UV index, which is very important if we want to stop those UV rays hitting us. Uh, and that’s just dropped from two to one. So, clearly the sun has gone behind the cloud. And it’s got the rain measurement here and the rain rate. So that’s what it shows how much it’s raining at the bottom. Once we hook this up to Wi-Fi, it will show us the waxing cresant of the moon. And in the middle, it just shows us exactly what we know. It’s partly cloudy. So all in all, this is a beautiful unit. You switch screens and it gives us that little bit more detail in the changes of the humidity. Over time, this will get more accurate as the machine is in place. As always, guys, thanks for watching and we’ll see you on the next one.

Nice review Glenn 😊
Is this a gardeners best friend? Well after taking a look at where my nearest weather station was I wasn't surprised how much they got the frost warnings wrong. (the station is miles away) so having real time data can help me, not only that its a cool gadget in the house 🤣🤣
Oh I love our weather station 🚉 we’ve had one for years to monitor mostly the winds. I’m sure it will help with the veggies. Have a fab week Glen, Ali 🇨🇦
You came up on my feed… I've had Weather stations for many years. Not as a Gardener but just an Interest. Hopefully I'm not teaching Granny here but get it up at a reasonable height, so that you can get a truer indication of wind.
