This post is for those who need hope, that one day your lawn will come around….
Sodded in late fall last season because of a pool installation and wife didn’t want to stare at dirt/mud until spring so I decided to sod the front as well. We sodded our entire property ourselves with 8 pallets (I did all the prep work, soil amendment, brought in top soil, etc). Live in DFW, Texas and our winter was harsh. Snow for several days, freezing temps, etc. I even had a Super Bowl party where the kids used my new sod as a fifa arena.
I thought I lost all the sod in the back from fungus and the winter but look at the pictures! Zoysia is thriving but will still need to plug a few areas over time.
Advice if you want it: Pay someone to sod or do it yourself. Year after year I’ve chased growing seeds without any success. Didn’t matter how many hours of videos I watched or what products I bought. Sure you can aspire to be like Ryan Knorr but most of us have day jobs and don’t live in his region. IMO, it’s much easier and fun to maintain a lawn after sodding opposed to trying to grow grass from seed.
