I have never had luck with these. And I have literally dozenssss of plants. Succulents in general hate me and I don’t understand it. But stringsssssss man. I can’t figure them out.
Like this guy? I haven’t done shit to him except bottom water when the dirt was dry and set him in indirect sunlight. Like ??!!! Was I supposed to repot him when I brought him home from the nursery where he looked like he was literally thriving?? 😭😭
I have a string of pearls that I bought about two months ago, that gave up the ghost recently. So I took all of the pearls that didn’t look disgusting and put them into new dirt and I’m crossing my fingers for it, but not hoping for much.
And I have a couple of long string of teardrops that are hanging from my windows and I love the way that they look, and they’re seemingly “healthy” but I’m so scared that those are gonna go next, bc that’s just what happens. Please help me stop that from happeninggggg!!

Nursery soil is made for nursery conditions. Lots of light and heat. It retains more water than we need it to retain in home conditions. Repotting is usually a good idea.
I find lots of bright direct light, especially from above to prevent them going bald, and watering when the top 2 inches or so of soil are dry.
Most succulents need quite a bit of light, so you probably need to find a more sunny spot for them.
I failed dolphins. Other string ofs do ok 🤞🏻
Don’t be too.discouraged as you may have been set up for failure to begin with! Someone else mentioned nursery soil is definitely far more water retentive because of the conditions they are in. Totally changes when it gets into a house.
The good news is you’ve got lots of healthy strings to propogate. Cut the happy ends. Stick them in a gritty well draining mix, and wait. bottom water is best, just make sure they are getting a ton of light especially on the top of the plant, not just the sides.
For future reference, dont water based on only the soil. Yes it should be super dry AS WELL AS you also should do the taco test to be sure.
