All right So when the next solar flare fries
the grid these three flowers might be the reason you’re still standing. So the Carrington event
was a massive solar flare that hit back in 1859 and it set all the telegraph wires on fire. It
induced a massive charge in anything electrical and destroyed them. This was before electronics
were really a thing. So think about what would happen if this flare happened in today’s world.
All of the cars, phones, satellites, electrical wires would be destroyed and it would take months
if not years for everyone to recover and a ton of people would die. Honestly these flowers will
help you survive multiple types of apocalypse: Zombie, magnetic pole, switch super volcano.
So I’m going to talk about the three flowers you can grow as a little bit of extra insurance
against this outcome. I’m Gardener Coo with my ride or die Nacho and I’m going to help you
survive! The first and most versatile in my opinion is Dalia. I know you’re thinking I’m crazy
but they actually have an edible tuber that is full of calories and vitamins. Just be sure not to
harvest the crown And you can keep getting edible tubers off of the same plant! Dalias are also cut
flower powerhouses but don’t eat the flowers! Did you know that fuchsia have berries? These black
berries honestly don’t taste like a lot but most importantly they are chalk full of vitamin C and
antioxidants. You don’t want to catch scurvy in this post-apocalyptic hellscape! They also have
edible flowers that are great on a salad for a pop of color! If you’ve been enjoying this video
please hit like and subscribe! Next we’re going to talk about wound care! So Calendula is another
one you’re going to need to protect yourself from the marauding masses! Calendula helps seals
wounds and soothes skin conditions And it’s anti-inflammatory antifungal and antibacterial
Now you get to learn how to make a poultice! Nothing like ancient European and ancient Egyptian
technology to save the day! To make a poultice you want to use the flower petals of the Calendula.
You can use some fresh or dried so you can store some for the treacherous months ahead! Grind the
petals up with a little bit of clean water or oil and warm this paste up. Warm not hot! Then apply
it to a clean cloth about half an inch thick, enclose the paste in the cloth, then take
it and wrap it around the cleaned wound. Secure the bandage or another cloth and leave
it on for 20 minutes to overnight. Remove the poultice if it becomes uncomfortable or if it
dries out. Oh and I forgot to say make sure you’re using clean hands to make this! And also you want
to spot test to make sure you’re not allergic to the Calendula. So here are the three flowers
you need to survive the solar storm and make it through till society rebuilds Just think of it as
a little extra insurance that also adds beauty to your garden and your life. Gardener Coo here with
Nacho and Freya. Now go out there and survive!
