It almost looks like a different type of grass. I have a fescue mix. I sprayed it already but it seems unaffected. It grows faster than the rest of my lawn. Columbus, Ohio (Zone 6)

Nut Sedge. You can buy that particular herbicide at most big box stores.

Stink grass. Ignore me. I’m drunk. But it’ll get you more views.

Empero nuts edge killer do not pull it out

No I don’t believe so. I just bought nut sedge killer from Lowe’s for about $8 and it works very well. I noticed it dying off within 2 days.

Meso4/Tenacity if it’s crabgrass. Sedge hammer if it’s nuts edge.

Download google lens, this works amazingly well.

I hope you get an answer because it looks like it’s the same stuff I have. When you pull on it does it pluck out easily?

This is perennial rye. It’s included in 99.9999% of fescue seed mixes. It grows much faster than fescue and it’s a lighter green.

Seed mixes include it because it germinates/sprouts faster and will protect the fescue seed

Does quinclorac kill this type of weed?

That looks more like Quackgrass than Sedge.

You’ll find out when it doesn’t respond to anything except Glyphosate.

*Definitely not nutsedge*, it is anatomically a grass.

I think it’s orchard grass or quackgrass but I’m not great at identifying grassy weeds. You can paint some blades with glyphosate to kill it, or spray that area and re-seed it. There aren’t many other effective chemical controls.

It could be torpedo/carpet grass. Does it have runners?

Same thing in my Midwest lawn. Grows fast so it quickly stands out. Can’t be killed without something that will kill your grass. I dig out the worst spots and replace dirt and seed. Or I lightly apply glyphosate though that can create brown spots for a year of too heavy. Other advice is to mow tall and feed your desired grass. The shade of your desired grass can cut it off.

I have this too. Have to pull it out by hand, but it comes out easily. It has almost like a bulb.
