Careen Tait’s innovative arrangement swept the top awards.

Colour, composition and cultural exchange were all on show at the June meeting of the Dolphin Coast Floral Art Club.

Held at the Ballito Gesinskerk on June 23, the meeting featured a talk on ‘Branching out on Screens’ delivered by Annette Badenhorst, president of the KZN Association of Floral Arrangers. She showed the budding flower arrangers how to use the colour wheel for good tone matching and how to best make use of a screen during composition.

Guest speaker Annette Badenhorst gave an interesting demonstration on colour and composition.

DCFA members then had the opportunity to put her advice to use, creating a series of stunning arrangements. Careen Tait won the overall ‘Best on Show’ award, alongside ‘Best Advanced’ and ‘Most Innovative’ while Gerda Kaljee was crowned ‘Best Intermediate’.

The DCFA meets on the third Monday of every month with a different series of guest speakers. Contact Vaughn Harrington for more information on how to get involved at 083 510 8792.
