welcome back to the channel What a morning 8:00 in the morning Absolutely beautiful Sun’s already out full tilt And we’ve got a busy one today The sweet corn incredible F1 and the French climbing beans blue lake They’re going out into the ground today I think we’ve had the last of the coal spell We should be safe So these are the French climbing beans again Looking really healthy Looking really really strong And this is a sweet corn Had pretty decent germination There’s only four misfires out of the pack So really pleased with that And it’s good today Got some more support from the family giving me uh giving me a bit of an ant So uh should get plenty done today Even managed to get the boy out today helping with uh bit of the ground work Part of the pot that I don’t really show much cuz I haven’t done anything with it at the moment is this this area behind me All of these fruit bushes and there’s fruit trees I really appreciate Somebody tell me what I should do with it to be honest I mean I kind of thought I’m just going to leave it and see what we’ve got because I have no idea But let’s have a quick look and um I’ll show you what’s happening there So these are obviously the the some currents of some description Lots of blossom and some coming But on this tree you can see it’s much more developed in terms of fruiting Guessing they’re going to be like red currentrs or white currents These ones have been um just netted over Guess to protect from the wood pigeons And again these [Music] are starting to fall through There’s loads of them There’s absolutely loads of them Think That just over there is a gooseberry And I’ve seen that there is some gooseberries actually on there already So looking good I’m assuming these are apples That’s a big big old tree right at the back of the plot Zoom out You see just how big that is It’s a big big old tree And these are the same These are now starting to get get some blossom on You see right on the end some blossom on that Like I say just not touched them just left them Guess it’s a case of uh just waiting and seeing what these what these develop And then I’ve got these two fruit trees as we uh as we come down the the path And again this one is starting to set fruit through I’m just not quite sure what it is or what it’s going to be You see a lot smaller than those at the back That’s just in the bed with the onions And then we’ve got this one Not blossomed up [Music] yet Have to try and find out what what these are Just I’ve got some idea This little seating area at the back is probably my favorite place I am going to have to move it I’m going to put some more beds there but it’s got the best view on the plot As you can see there Scabra Castle looking glorious in the sunshine Well it’s hard not to enjoy the sunshine but I am going to have to get started I normally get straight into it and I get down to the plot Literally keys down tools up straight on But it’s it’s just a lovely morning It’s sunny it’s warm it’s quiet There’s nobody down here So enjoy taking this 10 minutes just having a there’s a little bit of time doing absolutely nothing It’s lovely and still but we really do have to crack on now So Noah’s done a fantastic job of uh preparing the bed So the sweet corn is going to go straight into here So I’ve got 31 plants and they are looking really good I’ve taken one out just to get ready Look and as you can see really healthy root system So I’m pretty sure these will suffer any of the uh colder nights that we do have coming The good news is though the um temperature overnight where I am at the moment it’s not dropping below 6 7° So it’s definitely worth a chance And my instinct is immediately to plant everything in in nice neat rows Obviously with the corn they get pollinated by the wind So you need to do them a grid system kind of like a dice So we’re going to do it exactly that way Hopefully uh it gives us the results we need in a in a few months time So there we go Sweet corn is all in 32 plants I think there is all in all beans I think I’m going to put down on the end where I’ve got a bit of space but pleased to get those in the ground And there’s one of the two resident wood pigeons that we’ve got He’s literally watching me to see what I’m putting in to see if I’m netting it If I don’t he’s going to come down and absolutely decimate it So really pleased that the sweet corn’s in So I guess the question I’ve got is I know you can’t plant a different variety within the same vicinity because it cross-pollinates and it distorts the actual corn This I’ve got in the ground now Am I all right to plant another batch of incredible to basically succession so will they come in time or will I just catch these ones up and then I end up having no no room what what time should you plant your second your second round of sweet corn to make sure you’ve got that that continuous supply for for as long as you can If uh anybody’s got advice it’d be greatly appreciated Right the next job obviously then is to get these um French beans in And for that going to need the uh the big So that’s the first bean structure Just keeping it really simple four canes straight into the ground Just tied off at the top Got a plant around the base of the canes for them to uh for them to climb up I think I’ve had some severe beginners look with these plants They’re all looking really healthy and the root system just like the sweet corn is really strong So these should be fine Let’s get them in Get them away So there we go First set of beans in Looking good I will tie them in if needs be but they should wrap around the canes Find their own way And we’ve still got plenty of beans left which is handy just in case we have any misfires um with those ones that have just gone in So I’ll keep these down in the shed just in case So back at home now just finishing uh getting some more seeds sewn Like I said it’s uh it’s all about succession sewing for me now Making sure that as stuff comes out of the ground there’s stuff to go in So I’ll show you what I’ve got done already what I’m about to do and then like I say couple of hours we’ll get back down to the plot So we’ve got some tomatoes some Tiny Tims We also got some more Evasum special sprouts and some celery that I putotted on only a couple of days ago Sewing’s already started I’ve got my pumpkins in now Got some more of the spring onions totem And there’s some cabbages as well at the back Vestus I think that one is So they’re all uh they’re all done ready to kick on Got some lettuce as well This needs to go into the no dig bed And these are to the tomatoes that we’ve got at the moment These are the tiny toms Really small variety but really dense in uh in number of flowers Really good variety If you’ve got small spaces they are only in tiny pots Probably need potting on job for another day Got sunold tomatoes at the back and then we get into the purple sprouting broccoli This desperately needs to go out This will go down with me later on this afternoon We’ll get that in Peppers are doing great California Wonder and the first two but the the Damian chilies are looking amazing and they I’ve noticed they are starting now just to get their little seed heads on as well Shouldn’t be long before they’re um producing fruit I guess So the two tall ones there the uh they’re the Damian and the small one still going is a jalapeno The cucumbers are looking healthy looking strong lots of growth on them Really pleased with those And these are the baby boomer tomatoes in the pots Again flowering Been putotted on into larger pots now Looking good And then we’ve got the crimson crush which are just itching to go out Just going to wait another week or two before the uh before they do get put out cuz any cold will obviously see them off Down on the bottom we’ve got the squash sweet max again Looking really healthy looking really good They’ve been watered this morning It’s been so warm They’ll perk up So this is what I’m sewing now Some French beans Never seen these before Burgold some Kelvin done and wonder peas and some turn it purple top milan So get these done now before the uh sun comes around and this greenhouse becomes unbearable Well that’s it Everything sewed Brilliant Pleased with that So we’re going to get back down to the plot now and just get a few uh few jobs finished off before the end of the day So seen taking the netting off the broad beans They’ve uh they’ve started to spread out So I’m going to um just put some canes in for some support tie some twine around it just to try and condense them in just so they don’t get damage in this in this wind we’ve got at the moment So there we go Just a simple string line running all the way across just to prevent them getting bashed around a bit in the wind Starting to lose the sweds now in between all the weeds So going to get this tidied up next So that’s the sweds all weeded Now we can get on with putting the um the net on Yeah You see on this side in the middle Okay Drop it on this side What are we doing half Yeah Each I’ll take the canes back down Okie dokie Got it Does that cat still is it yeah he still comes Need to see him So no butterflies can get in there now at all Need to see that little troublemaker Well that’s it for this one Thanks for watching Got quite a bit done today Pleased with the progress down there Turnips covered over Made sure those broad beans are are well looked after And we managed to get a couple of crops out as well with the uh with the corn and the beans So really pleased with that Literally looking at these tomatoes now thinking shall I run them down and and get them into the ground so that’ll be on the next one I don’t think I can wait anymore I’m going to risk it They’re going out Till next time Thanks again

Lovely few days down the plot, even better with Noah helping this week. Have a great weekend 🎉!
Great update Andy. you seem to have everything under control.👍👍👍 Now you have even more helpers! Well done Noah!
Nice corn germinaton, im going to put mine out next weekend as ive not hardened them off yet.😁🙏👌
Looks good Andy going to have plenty of fruit this year, which lettuce are you growing I always struggle to grow it not sure why 😊
To prevent corn from cross pollinating plant at least 1 month apart but check the days to tassel and maturity to make sure they won't tassel at the same time anyway.
Stress from hotter temps and dry conditions can make it tassel sooner.
Wow not your beans and corn look fabulous 💪. Hello boy 😂😂, I call Gerald that too. I’m not sure which but one currant does produce earlier. Your look amazingly healthy so if you like currants I’d just leave them and harvest as needed. You’re actually very lucky to have such well managed fruit trees and bushes. 3:44 pears 🍐. Yes definitely put corn in groups as they will pollinate better. And you can add squash under the corn. We don’t have wood pigeons. Yes you can try as corn is harvested in late Aug and as I always think what have you got to lose. A fantastic update Andy and Boy 😂, Ali 🌦️🇨🇦
Hello Andy, do you know anything about garlic? I've decided to plant the cloves now, with the view of getting one large bulb rather than the fiddly individual cloves. Do you think this will work, or will they run to seed quickly? Thanks.
Another enjoyable video mate thanks for making it!
mine didn’t germinate 😢
looking good your seedlings look happy
The weather is getting nicer and nicer, and we have a lot of work to do to plant.
I think the first fruit tree is (a blackcurrant or gooseberry bush), and there might be some pear trees.
And that little wooden bench is absolutely lovely; I'd love to sit on it and simply enjoy the garden.
Happy gardening!
Loving the bird song, looks like a fab plot.😊
A good veriety of pea, is Shiraz it's a purple podded veriety and very heavy cropping, can be eaten as mangetout or grown on for regular pea's. A lot of veg growing is really trial and error. One piece of advice is onion's when ripe leave them to ripen for a week DON'T pull then eat straight away as you will be glued go the loo and in a lot of pain, I know I mafe that mistake.😂😂❤
