Popular Gardeners’ World star Adam Frost has shared a rare insight into his personal life after admitting that he is still yet to convince his wife of one thing. Having become one of the most respected names in British gardening over the years, Adam has a number of accolades to back up his wealth of gardening advice.

Over the years, his gardening ability has been recognised with the awarding of a number of accolades, including gold medals at the prestigious Chelsea Flower Show, as well as being made an ambassador for the RHS (Royal Horticultural Society) in 2014.

Since then, he has been an ever-present on our screens, after landing a role on the highly popular Gardeners’ World, where he imparts his pearls of gardening wisdom during the show’s weekly instalments on BBC Two.

His time on the programme began in 2016, when he joined an impressive stable of horticulturists, including Monty Don.

However, despite just under a decade on the BBC show, he has recently shared a significant “change” away from the programme, saying that he is eager to make his patch more biodiverse.

During a recent chat with Amateur Gardening magazine, the green-fingered 55-year-old said: “I’m on the cusp of changing; I haven’t even convinced Mrs Frost yet, but I can see the value of backing off and not keeping everything so tidy.”

He added:”It’s got to be here to stay because of the gardens as habitats. We’re no longer ‘putting gardens to bed’ in the winter, and we’re now gardening the way we want to garden.”

Earlier in the interview, he told the magazine how he was embracing the move towards greater biodiversity and less controlled environments in our gardens, and even gave credit to horticultural legend Geoff Hamilton, saying that he had been talking about the importance of biodiversity decades ago.

In recent years, there has been a growing movement towards encouraging biodiversity in our gardens, thanks to the numerous benefits it can have.

In the gardening world, biodiversity simply refers to the combination of plant, animal, and microbial life in a garden, and the ecosystems that result.

Away from discussing biodiversity and less controlled environments, Adam also gave an insight into his plans for the “long-term” future, saying: “I think my long-term dream is to get myself an acre somewhere and just look after it with my grandchildren.”

Adam Frost is set to return to our screens this evening (July 4) on Gardeners’ World at 8 p.m. on BBC Two.
