Noticed something interesting happening to flowers in my garden, the flower heads seem to have grown together! 🙂

So the elongation is called fasciation. The mini flowers coming from the center of the flower is called floral proliferation.

From my understanding these are two separate mutations expressing in the same phenotype. Pretty rare that you would see both at the same time.

    Very cool!

From what I’ve come across, these mutations can also happen from bacterial or viral infections, as well as other environmental conditions. I don’t know much about it myself, so what others can add I’m sure would be more helpful. I decided to share since I’d just recently done a Google search of what I now know is fascination due to having received an order last month of a starter plant of N’Joy Pothos that has a smaller folded baby leaf formed on top of the bigger leaf on a couple of its stems. I think it’s pretty and these little baby leaves on top of the bigger leaves gives I think gives it extra character but it did pinch my curiosity and had me a little worried if something could be wrong with it. I haven’t noticed any new leaves coming out this way so I’m not concerned about my particular plant currently.
