  1. I thought about angular bracing, but I worry that the braces would get pulled inward over time, causing the wires to sag more and more. Instead, I installed a 2×4 top brace over our 4x4s. That way the posts shouldn't get pulled in by the heavy vines, or pushed around by our kids playing around in the backyard.

  2. We planted grapes right behind our retaining block wall which is pretty high and ugly. Was just hoping they’d be pretty growing over the wall but they actually are putting forth clusters of grapes this year! I’ve inserted supports to trellis them along the wall.

  3. I made the mistake of planting my vine next to our chain link fence. The vine ruined my fence,it threaded through the holes and it deformed the fence. Now i keep and eye on it and remove new growth ,before the get thick.

  4. 12 feet spacing betweet grapes? Whaaaat? Can I fit them tighter in a cold climate zone 3? I really dont think they will grow so much in here with our short summers.

  5. Praise The Lord 🙌🏼 I just found a couple of grape plants that I thought had died, which surprisingly survived! Now I can save them and hopefully see what they produce ❤️thanks Luke! 👍🏼

  6. Luke does this information apply to berries too? I'm growing blackberries and blueberries for the first time this year and the Japanese beetles are killing me! Also, would copper fungicide be helpful for their dormant period as well?

  8. Can you start your branches growing on the top line and then train the lower lines later?
