Honestly that little dry area of pasture by the red barn, free of non native ‘butterfly bush’,hydrangeas, invasive burning bush and other horticultural atrocities, might still have one or two native plants growing in it and would be worth exploring. Though I doubt it. There is only hope the 😊kids will get excited and discover native plants, as they discovered local birds.
Paul is so nice 🌻🌻🌻
Wonder if a vole or mole is eating the roots on the incrediball hydrangea
Oh, that sunflower patch at the end just made my day! Bless Paul for running drip to them. I have been watching your channel for many years and have enjoyed learning so much even though I grew up gardening with my grandparents. You and your family are such a blessing to me and many others. Your channel has also gotten me through some really tough times in my life. I will forever be grateful. Many blessings to you and your sweet family.
Aww Paul is so sweet to run drip so the Sunflowers can live!
Laura, you are so inspiring 🙂 …Question, do you do a rejuvenation prune on your Black Lace Elderberry shrubs? Also, I have two Acer Rubrum Maples that turn a brilliant red in the fall. Last year one of them died back half way from the top, It's been in the ground for at least ten years and another maple thats been in the ground for at least 15 + years did the same . Could it be a watering issue?.
I remember years ago you rescued several hydrangeas from your mom's garden center and you had them in a row by the back door of your home, behind a boxwood hedge at the time (the way I'm remembering). Are the hydrangeas you show in this video in that area (the hedge of them with the one that was not doing well) the same hydrangeas? The infrastructure you guys have put into your gardens with all the hardscaping, drip to every area, the updates, the Hartley and addition of all the land is just so amazing to watch and see all the progression over time!!
I declare scarlet…
Such a great day , all kinds of things going on , enjoyed so much❤️
How are all the big trees doing on this berm? Do you think they all took? I am so happy to see things buttoning up and developing.
If I was your neighbor I'd enjoy the wall of green you've provided as privacy. Who wants to look at a fence when you can look at all your gorgeous trees?!!
Ooo I have an idea, the back bit that Paul is weeding, you should create terraced row crops. A way to grow the row crops but not in the horse pasture 😊 love you vids, thank for the lessons and inspiration ❤
My Black Lace Elderberry bushes are just struggling, its their second year and a couple of them are just barely staying alive..Im so bummed , I baby them and in the Spring they all pushed new growth but kind of died back now that we have hot summer..its not the heat because the two that are the most in the sun are doing the best, the others are in sun but are partially shaded in the afternoon…Im in zone 6b they should thrive here😢
Peking Cotoneaster. I'm Zone 4. The flowers are insignificant but the fall colour is glorious! All the colours. Makes a pretty good hedge and the natural shape just needs the odd bit of heading back if it gets in the way. /// You're going to need all hands on deck at hydrangea pruning time. 😀
Love it ❤❤❤
One of my favourite areas , the trees🥰 really look at home . Filling in the areas around them is so exciting.
The benefits of masking your home is huge. The extra hight from the brick pillar will really help. Can’t wait to see the cottage post office 🤗.
Finally the drip to the sunflowers…perfect .
Take care xx xx xx
Looking forward to seeing the gate area in a couple years.
Don’t put windows in package shed. People can break into it and steal your packages. Sadly
A random sunflower has been growing in one of my raised beds—which I didn't plant—and the random sunflower that Aaron removed near the gazebo came to mind. It may have been hard or shocking to you and your followers to remove that structure, but think of your property now and how rehoming the gazebo made room for amazing changes in your landscape. I hope you can look back now and (if you even think of the gazebo anymore) feel satisfaction that you made the right decision.
Great video the brick pillar looks awesome can’t wait until they are done and your delivery storage shed will be done too. Ahh the sunflower germinated how cool is that and thoughtful of Paul to put drip there.
Incrediballs always make me crave a popcorn ball 😅
Happy 4th of July Laura to you and your family! 🇺🇸❤🇺🇸
How do you trim the chaste tree to stay small by the pond? I would love the blue color in my garden, but 12' is way too large!
Laura…it looks soo beautiful out there. You are so blessed.
I love your excitement! It is all looking so promising.
That whole entryway is going to be such a grand entrance. I can't wait to see it completed.
I was wondering if you thought about having lights on both sides of the pillars. I think that would be beautiful for the lights to be on both sides. Just a thought.
I still love your knowledge of plants and their care but I can’t relate to the scale you have moved to😢. Thank you for all the information you have shared over the years.
I like the gate set up. I haven't seen it before, but it's a nice and smart addition to your property.
The burm is really coming together and wouldn't it be lovely if all of your neighbors put up black fencing. ❤ I'm already loving the brick pillars and isn't it amazing what can happen if you just keep putting one foot in front of the other. Inch by inch is a cinch and you have taken raw land and created an oasis in the desert. Thank you for letting us come along and enjoy it with you… from afar. The children have everything they need… a pond, a stream, fish, trampoline, playground, and best of all wide open spaces to explore and discover all sorts of enchanting areas with wildlife. How wonderful. I have high regards for you and your entire families, the way you were raised and taught. We reap what we sow.
You should use that same brick to redo your outdoor fireplace area
Love it! You should have the kids put time capsules in the hallow part of the pillars next to gate!!!
I always think something is chewing on the roots 🙂 when something dies in a hedge hehe
Possibility one of the cats sprayed! 🤷♀️
That Hydrrenga looks like a cat or dog peed by it.
Did I hear right 😮 Laura loving red blooms 😮
❤❤❤❤❤
The hydrangeas looks beautiful!
Your channel is a point of light in my life. Thank you for sharing what you are creating. What a wonderful place for you kids to grow up. God bless your family! 🙏
Love the pillar! I like the idea of the delivery hut. It’s going to look really nice.
Thank you Paul for saving the sunflowers!
I LOVE How you go through your garden and show us all the little maintenance😢 things that you do-THAT IS SO HELPFUL. Getting into the details above the hydrangea issue and how to cut it back etc.
Also, I’ve been wanting to buy a hydrangea for my zone six front yard, full sun and your recommendation on that quick fire Fab sold me! I’m gonna order that today!
ALSO I KEEP HEARING THIS NEW TERM “BLOOMS ON NEW WOOD”- what does that mean??
Laura, there is a fabulous Miscanthus that you might like for the berm: Miscanthus Floridulus.. gets 8-10 feet tall! I've had one in my zone 5 garden for nearly 20 years, and I love it!!
❤
