Calling all green thumbs.
Tiny Township has received a $31,076 grant from the Ministry for Seniors and Accessibility’s inclusive community grants program.
This funding will support an accessibility enhancements for the community garden located at Perkinsfield Park, aimed at making the space more inclusive and welcoming for all residents.
The project includes the installation of 28 raised garden boxes for improved accessibility, a 10′ x 16′ gazebo with an accessible picnic table for “shaded, inclusive seating,” a park bench, age-friendly gardening tools and improvements to the gate entrance and ramp for safer access.
Work on the project is scheduled to be completed by November 30 with various aspects of the enhancements to be completed throughout the current growing season. The project’s expected to improve access for seniors, individuals with mobility challenges and all community members looking to enjoy the benefits of gardening in an “inclusive” environment.
“We are thrilled to receive this funding, which aligns with our ongoing commitment to being an age-friendly community by creating accessible and inclusive spaces for everyone,” Mayor David Evans said.
“This project will make a meaningful difference for residents who want to participate in community gardening, socialize and enjoy outdoor spaces without barriers.”
