Hi, I’m hoping this is the place to get information on normal pricing for rare variegated plants, if not I would really appreciate to be shown where I could go to ask around for other people’s experiences..
I currently have 2 monstera D. Mint, one yellow Marilyn, a Thai, and some other variegations, and their prices were far steeper than this Etsy seller… something I only realised in hindsight.

I’ve been in touch with customer service several times about this seller because they won’t reply or give any information about an order. Like mentioned I realised far too late that these prices were too good to be true, and clearly some of the pictures are stolen. It seems the one with white background and wooden flooring is their pictures, however it really doesn’t matter when no one gets their shipments and the reviews seem to be fake (apart from the «scammer don’t buy» type that have recently started coming in)

My original delivery date was 7th of July, but the seller moved it to 15th of August, meaning I can’t get a refund or open a case for another month. The order was placed 7th of June🫠 I had multiple items in the order so it’s not just the 17$😅 (more like 190$..)

Does anyone have any tips on how I could have Etsy help me faster..? I’ve heard 3 different hinges from 3 different customer service agents at this point😓

you could probably go through your bank to get a refund, report it as fraud and they should be able to get your money back. other than that document/ screenshot everything this is most definitely a scam and it sucks that it happens so much its why I always always always check reviews and the amount of purchases made.

  2. If you paid with PayPal you could try escalating the case with them.

I mean right off the bat looking at reviews. It seems like everyone is yelling to not purchase with this particular seller you’re talking about. Not sure where you are located but a ton of local nurseries try to keep up with trends. So if I were you, I would get connected with your local plant nursery, and I’m not talking big box store nursery.

If you don’t have a “mom & pop” shop, then local fb groups can be helpful.

Your absolute last bet for a good deal that will sell you exactly what you want via online is the Palmstreet app. Tons of reputable and experienced shops on there BUT it is highly addictive and easy to purchase on there. Another downside is shipping costs but Etsy has the same problem there sometimes. They do offer community that you can connect with and live chat discussions with the actual sellers. So there is a plus there. And since they have direct buy and auction buying, you usually get a good deal or current market prices.

    Hope this helps!

I was scammed twice on Etsy buying plants. Never again. While they do refund the money, you can’t request it until after 3 months.

I had this exact situation happen on Etsy. I was able to get customer service to get me a refund sooner by going to the help page and opening a chat, then explaining that this was blatantly a scam and that it is unfair for me to have to wait until July (I had ordered in the beginning of April) for a refund. They had me message the seller and request to cancel the order and when the seller didn’t respond in 48 hours they gave me a refund.

Yeah, I hear you. I placed an order from this shop recently and just today got a notification that my order was dispatched (no idea if this was true). So far I’ve been scammed a couple of times by other orders so who knows at this point. I have tried to buy within my country (Canada) but also had issues with those etsy shops. I’m really disappointed in this, as a lot of my local shops don’t have a lot of rare items and the ones they do have are kind of expensive, and you cannot just buy cuttings or corms and whatnot to propagate yourself. Not sure what the best way forward is. Some places have good reviews, but then still screw people over. I have read that the Etsy shops Newyeargarden is legit but they charge shipping so it’s best to order a few things to make it worth your while. Sorry this is happening to you.
