hi everyone I’m Lisa from Down to Earth Gardening and Design welcome to today’s video which is on clatus these clatus are so stunning i’m over in my daughter Hannah’s garden here um sometimes we call it a cottage garden but it is also a sensory garden the kids love being out here and um just gardening with us and having a little fun out here but what’s really blooming right now and they’re so stunning this year are Hannah’s clatus look at the two that I have here um next to me they are just covered in blooms so today’s video I want to show you our clatus um if you’ll remember last year I planted a few new varieties over at my house around my boulder walls because sometimes you know we plant the clatus with some trelluses arbors pergolas but other times we plant them to drape like I did at my house so I wanted to give you an update on those and just talk about my favorites because we all want to put what we really love in our garden you should absolutely love your plants so favorites are important you should love them and I do have a couple that are cute but probably not my favorites because we only have so much real estate in our garden so we really want to be selective so let me talk about um each one a little bit and just show you how glorious they are right now first we have to talk about the clatus next to me and it is Dr rupel and what a stunner this is it’s such a focal point in this garden and adds some really fantastic vertical interest it has large byolored flowers it’s a reliable bloomer the blooms can get up to 8 in in diameter and you can also get another light relum in the late summer which you will find with a lot of your clatus and many of which we’re going to list today next also on the arbor behind me is crystal blue so it has lilac blue flowers with some silvery mauve pompoms it is a long bloomer and it really has all the frills and thrills it blooms like crazy and each year it looks better and better here [Music] [Music] we have Sarah Elizabeth which is a little more of a compact clatus it only gets to be about five feet tall when mature great for small spots um smaller gardens and even containers and you can also see it here on my daughter Hannah’s mailbox which is a great application for it so another compact clatus is Bernardine and this is the second clatus that we have framing my daughter Hannah’s mailbox which is perfect for this spot here it has a large pale lavender blue petals that are almost blue and star-shaped and here we have Josephine this is one of the best double clatus that I have personally seen it resembles a dalia and as it matures it does a bit of shape shifting because you’ll see more of the inner pom poms as the outer petals fall away and here we have Sally alongside a waterfall and I love this application here it has contrasting petals that are pink and mauve and it is another compact clatus coming in at about five feet tall here we have Stand by Me and I mentioned that some of these are not my favorites and while it is cute it is more of a bush style clatus so it does well in the front of your cottage garden or your borders and I really just love the blue bell-shaped flowers on it but it is a non vining so just make sure that you use it in the correct application and here we have tranquilite it has icy blue or light purple blooms um a little bit of white hint to them it’s more of a compact clatus but it flowers from top to bottom so this is the one that I did plant um just about a year ago in another video and it’s doing quite well here here we have Jacmani such a vigorous grower here i wanted to show you um the buds on this and then again when it’s in full bloom it was really the first modern large flowering clatus introduced way back in 1862 so it’s a bit of a sentimental clatus very popular and familiar it has such beautiful velvety dark purple flowers um it’s really a stunner it gets to be about 10 to 15 feet tall 3 to six feet wide when it’s mature you will see that it just increases in height and beauty every year last but not least we have Diana’s Delight what a stunning purple rich lavender flower it’s another compact vine but um it still will get up to six feet tall and you also may get a relum on it so if you’re a violet purple lover like I am I think you’ll really love this one here [Music]

beautiful flowers
Really enjoyed this video just planted my first 2 clematis in my garden. One is sweet autumn ( I heard gets huge) and the other dr rupple . I love how the blooms are so big with clematis.
Beautiful varieties. This is a good year for clematis. Mine are all doing well. Even some of my new ones that
I planted this spring are “leaping”.
