We’ve made a bit of progress in the guest room—it’s finally starting to feel like a welcoming space. I’m also beginning to think ahead about what we might do with the garden next year, now that the major landscaping is behind us. And of course, no vlog would be complete without a little treasure hunting! I’ll take you along to show what’s currently available at flea markets here in Switzerland.

[Music] so welcome from sunny and hot Zurich it there’s a heat wave here right now and it’s just been really really hot um since the last update we’ve just sort of had minor updates here and there nothing as monumental as the garden transformation um so one of the bigger things was that we had to get the guest room ready because we were going to have family over um so that’s something that we actually got done i’m still waiting for all of the curtains to arrive we only have curtains in the guest room at the moment so we’re just fully relying on all the shutters um but the guest room curtains I luckily had time to get shortened before our family got here and otherwise it’s just been really tiny things here and there like I wanted to get like small plants for each of the bathrooms i think it just looks so much nicer when you have something green in your bathroom um and also in the garden I did a lot of weeding um and we’re still waiting for the grass to grow back in some of the patches where they had to dig up the the ground to install the sprinkler system so those are mainly the things that we got done in the last weeks we all got really really ill as well so that kind of took a lot of time and then like I mentioned we had family in town so there hasn’t been a whole lot going on but still there’s always a little bit going on here and there and over the next few weeks I am hopefully going to be done with well receiving all the curtains that I’ve ordered but also um tailoring some of them um so in the next video I’m hoping to show you all of the curtains and because it’s so hot right now um it would be actually really nice to have them because then you don’t necessarily have to have the shutters down all the time um on the really hot days especially in the afternoon we basically just have to have all the shutters down all the time um otherwise there’s just no way especially on um the top floor where our bedroom is it gets really hot and the sauna is also there in the master um in in the bathroom of the master suite so it’s basically impossible to use it this time of year it’s just it the the heat sort of lingers up there and even if you open all of the windows there’s not enough time in the evening for it to all go away so that’s basically all that’s happened in the past weeks um so let’s go and have a look so on my birthday we decided to go to a garden store just to take a look around um like I already mentioned I just got like a few plants for the bathrooms but I also wanted to kind of start planning ahead for next year so some of the things that we would like to do are to plant like more vegetables and maybe a few more berry bushes we have some um that I will show you at some later stage when I do my next garden update um but we’d like to plant a few more berry berry bushes and also rhubarb which you see here um so those are some of the things that we were looking at here and the other thing that we really want to do is that we have two large balconies and there’s not a whole lot of privacy for one but also shade so we would like to um plant maybe some climbing plants or something else i mean we were kind of going there also to get inspired a little bit and see what would make sense like here we’re looking at different types of Japanese maples um but that might be something that we’d like to get for the patio area not this kind that we already planted but maybe another variety um just in a pot because I would like to put um some large like terracotta pots on the patio area um so yeah we just walked around it was a really really hot day um and this garden store is amazing i mean they have everything and I completely fell in love with this specific tree it’s so beautiful i mean it reminds me of like a poodle um anyway the other project that we have most likely for next year we were kind of playing around with the idea of doing it this year but I think it’ll be next year is um that we want to um cover the wire fence and the stairs because it’s just all wire so we’d like to put some climbing plants there so that’s what we were looking for as well and um I don’t think we’ll do roses but they were just beautiful to look at so um those are sort of the ideas that we were playing around with but it’ll take some time and I’ll probably go and have a look here again even a couple of times um and obviously do some more research especially on the climbing plants um because we also want it to be quite low maintenance so let’s see um we also were spending a bit of time discovering the area that we live in so we found this really cute place that you can do like high tea at or you can have drinks here coffee ice cream whatever but they have this cute little boutique where they sell just a bunch of really cute interior stuff but also you know children’s clothes these flameless LED candles that I love just literally everything like a little bit of everything um so I’ve already been here like four times since discovering it and um the other thing that we spent some time doing was to go to what they call here Brocken House or Brockies so just flea markets to look around they have amazing quality here like the stuff that you find at these flea markets is just incredible um like you can get a whole set of like dishes plates whatever like everything and they’re there are no chips no um scratches on them it it’s just like a completely different level of of quality um and it’s always fun to look around also for inspiration right because we live in a new build so I want to mix it with some old stuff like that chair and so here you can see the quality that I was talking about earlier i wasn’t really looking for anything specific i just wanted to take a look around um and I did find a few things um I think I found like two flower pots but nothing major i mean I I really wasn’t there to shop for anything big i got um a chair for the guest room and then those flower pots that I mentioned and that’s basically about it so I use them for the plants um for the bathrooms and oh and one other thing that I got was associ so those were just things that I needed and also had been looking for and I actually was happy to find them secondhand because sometimes they just have more charm so I was really happy about those purchases they just have so much at this specific one this um Brocky is in hardbroket so it’s just the Salvation Army Brocky and like I mentioned earlier we did spend a lot of time exploring the area and we found this really cute town where that shop was um that I showed you earlier and it’s just so typically old Swiss and charming and it has um you know a lot of these old preserved buildings and I go and run there sometimes it’s just such a beautiful place and it’s just great to see all this history like how they’ve preserved these very old church bells for example and all of the old buildings in this country in general are just so well preserved so it’s it’s really beautiful to see um and then lastly I just recorded a little bit of the weeding of the back garden process it took me a long time to get it done um but I I think I’m finally there and our smaller magnolia tree started blooming um so those were basically the updates that I had from the past month and next time I’ll show you what’s happened mainly with the curtains but also with
