I mowed my lawn last week then left town for vacation the next day. The sprinklers ran every other day, and it wasn’t crazy hot, couple cloudy days with rain. Came home to this, it looks like the mower killed large patches of grass. Any idea how this could have happened? Suggestions to fix it?

Did you scalp it in anticipation of going away?

  2. The more shaded areas look fine. Is there any chance your sprinkler is broken? Or that you are underwatering? How many inches of water gets put down when you water it every other day?

Did you notice any drips from the mower? Looks like it could be some kind of petroleum exposure. *im not an expert

I would put down a fungicide just to be safe because I’ve seen from my own yard that tires will spread fungus and leave tracks

You’re watering way too shallow way too frequently.

I’d bet a dollar you have dollar spot. Can’t be sure from this aerial shot, but patterns look about right for it. Rain, watering every other day, grass never had a chance to dry out.

Bet if you looked at a half dead / half green blade, it would have small bleached out lesions with darker boarders on it.

It’s been suuuper hot so I’ve made an effort to water some of the parts that are in direct sunlight more than others

What time of day are you watering? Might be fungus, or maybe armyworms. Also I mow my fescue pretty tall and even taller and less often when summer gets here.

This is like saying the gun killed the deceased rather than blaming the shooter

  9. SW Denver here. Lots of yards in my neighborhood took a nasty hit this past weekend from the dry heat. Are you watering at night or in the morning?

  10. Looks like ascochyta leaf blight. Mowers will streak the fungus around like that. I believe it is more common in your area.

  11. Denver here as well. My lawn is starting to look like this too as well as a few neighbors.
