If you love the look of flowers but aren’t the most green-fingered gardener, there’s no need to panic. Not all flowers need constant upkeep, and in fact, some are even better when left to their own devices.

According to idealhome.co.uk, there are several plants that will bloom for even the most challenged of gardeners. All they need is some sun, some water and they’ll provide the rest.

Marigolds

The first flower that’s perfect for lazy gardeners is marigolds. These gorgeous orange blossoms thrive on neglect and don’t even need deadheading. All they need is a bit of sun and water and they will bloom for months. They also act as a natural pest deterrent so make a perfect companion plant to things that are susceptible to insects.

Cosmos

Cosmos are another great choice with its little lush flowers. Once they are established in the soil they can handle drought, poor quality soil and neglect and aren;t often bothered by garden pests.

They are also self seeding so will keep growing again and again.

Zinnias

Zinnias are also fabulous for people who aren’t sure where to start. Their ultra colourful blooms provide a beautiful pop of colour to your garden and as long as they’re planted in a sunny spot they will thrive.

Sunflowers

These gorgeous and massive flowers are practically foolproof and will grow big and beautiful in no time. All they need is bright sun and these towering flowers will give your garden an incredible show.

Although it’s a little late in the year to plant these now, it’s worth keeping them in mind for next year’s garden planting.

Annual salvias

Not only are these beautiful flowers one of the most drought-tolerant plants you can get, but they’re also massively popular with pollinators. Not only will these flowers look great but they will attract bees and butterflies into your garden, bringing life to it.
