I agree, teach them early. My mom had my brother and me out with her when we were very young. I remember being four years old following behind my mom (and helping) in the garden. My father did the tilling. We have blueberries starting to ripen on our bushes.I have nine. I had to cover ouers since the birds were getting most of them.
