  1. For a jar that high, I would go with a single balls height, tbh.as those are fairly big Leca. Leca is very good about wicking water back up, just make sure you use a substrate barrier, and a 1 strand thick layer of sphagnum moss above the barrier to keep the soil out of the drainage. Doing so will allow a more substantial soil later, which you may have to limit somewhat with a higher drainage layer.

  2. Teetering on overkill, yes that’s plenty of drainage.
