I repotted my plant about 3 months ago and just noticed some tiny black bugs crawling around near what look like small white eggs. I’m not super experienced with plants, so I have no idea what this is or how bad it might be.

She gets about 8–12 hours of light a day from a window that’s about 3 feet away. I usually water her once a week or every other week. The pot she’s in right now doesn’t have drainage (I know, I know 😩), and I’ve been meaning to repot her into a plastic pot with drainage that I can place inside the ceramic one. That way, I can take it out and let her drink at her own pace instead of soaking the roots.

I’m almost tempted to just toss the whole thing because I absolutely hate bugs and can’t deal 😭 but I really want to try my best to save her if I can.

Any advice would be super appreciated 🪴🙏

  1. No idea what the eggs are from but I for sure wouldn’t want them hatching.. I’d suggest repotting in new soil. Or maybe at the very least soaked the whole thing outside for a couple hours and then letting it fully drain and dry before watering again. But I’d honestly opt to totally report and spray down plant and bare roots outside to try to leave all the eggs and live bugs behind

Looks like fungus. No worries. If you want it to die out just let the soil dry out more.
But something is decomposing there and the fungus is taken care of it it’s not really a bad thing at all

It’s a type of white mold. Usually a sign of moist soil. Usually doesn’t hurt the plant. Just means your soil is wet. That could eventually cause rot, but it’d be due to bacteria in the wet soil. Not this.

Not eggs 🙂 saprophytic fungi. I’ve been told it isn’t harmful

Clearly, it’s difficult to see the little guys. I see one to the left in a hole that is shiny and globular. Can’t tell from video.

Id cut back on watering if you can if you want it to go away

Do the tiny bugs fly around? If so they are probably fungus gnats, if not just ignore them.
