✨Things really start to heat up this time of year, so why not build a stock tank pool and turn your backyard into a summer paradise?

💡Step-by-Step Build

🔹1. Site Preparation & Base

• Choose a flat, level spot with good drainage.
• Excavate or remove turf to ~4 in. depth.
• Backfill with clean, compacted sand or fine gravel.
• Lay a ground-cloth (landscape fabric) or thin pond-liner underlayment to protect the tank bottom.

🔹2. Position the Tank

• Place the empty galvanized tank on your prepared pad.
• Use a torpedo level on top rim to ensure the tank is perfectly level (water depth is sensitive on one side).

🔹3. Install Inlet/Outlet Fittings

• Drill or use factory-knockout ports on the tank wall at a convenient height (typically 6–8 in. from bottom).
• Screw in your Adapter “A” with collar (Part #10849). Tighten the collar from inside the tank if it’s a thru-wall fitting.

🔹4. Attach Hoses & Valves

• Inlet side (suction):

1. Slide a hose clamp onto the pump hose, push the hose onto the pump inlet.
2. Tighten clamp.
3. Attach the other end of that hose to the tank’s inlet adapter; tighten a second clamp.
4. Install one plunger valve inline on this hose for isolation (helps when servicing pump).
5. Add a filter sock/strainer at the very tank end if you expect debris.

• Outlet side (return):

1. Repeat the same steps: hose → pump outlet → clamp → valve → hose → tank adapter.
Your picture shows exactly this layout: pump outside the tank, two hoses with clamps, plunger valves in place, and adapters at the tank wall.

🔹5. Electrical Hookup

• Run a heavy-duty, outdoor-rated extension cord (or hard-wire to a GFCI outlet).
• Plug the pump in, making sure the cord doesn’t lie in any puddles.

🔹6. Fill & Test

• Fill the tank with water to about 6–8 in. below the rim.
• Turn on the pump; check for leaks at every clamp, valve, and adapter.
• Adjust valves to get a good circulation flow.

🔹7. Balance & Maintain

• Test water chemistry (pH, chlorine).
• Add chemicals as needed.
• Skim surface and brush walls weekly.
• Back-wash or clean filter sock monthly.

  3. If you’re using chlorine or salt in the water that galvanize steel will corrode… specks of rust stains will develop & accumulate within the seems and bottom corners….
