KI SAWYER, Mich. (WLUC) – The Upper Great Lakes Family Health Center at K.I. Sawyer unveiled its new community garden Friday afternoon.

The event included a ribbon cutting for the ‘People’s Garden’ at the family health and resource fair. The fair included free dental screenings, vaccinations, a raffle and health groups with informational booths. The Practice Manager for the Upper Great Lakes Family Health Center says the event is about ensuring the community is aware of the health resources available to them.

“Our goal today as a health center is just for our community to come together and realize the amount of resources that are available to everybody here in just our local community here between Gwinn and Sawyer, so, not just us at Upper Great Lakes but all of our partners that work with us to make all this happen. So, that’s our goal for everybody today to come together as a family and community and just enjoy this,” UGLFHC Practice Manager Sarah Tregmebo said.

There was also free food available and a cooking demo using fresh garden vegetables. The resource fair was free to attend.
