I got this plant a few weeks ago from Trader Joe's and I don't remember it having a label for what type of plant it was. Have been watering it once every 2 days (ish) with all my other plants, about 1/4 of a cup. It's sitting in a windowsill that gets morning sun. I love the flowers, the stems were standing tall when I got it and looked stunning, and the leaves are beautiful so if hate to loose it. What am I doing wrong?

It’s a cyclamen. I always buy them beautiful, and they always decline quickly and sharply. (Even though I have a pretty strong green thumb.) Sorry I can’t help, but best of luck!! 🤞🏼

  2. It’s a cyclamen and once ever 2ish days is WAY too much for just about anything indoors.

When you water any plant, the amount isn’t important. What’s important is that you water till water runs out. And most plants either want to dry out most of the way or at least the top inch, like your cyclamen. You can use something like google lens to identify any other mystery plants and determine how much they want to dry out.

Cyclamen also go dormant in the summer. This could be what you’re seeing, but that sounds like it was staying wet constantly. You do want to back off watering during this period. You could try to gently push some soil away from the base of the stems and see if the tuber (the potato thing) is mushy or firm

It’s a cyclamen!! I got mine from Trader Joe’s too. I only water once the soil is dry, maybe around once a week or so. I also keep it right by the window as it needs bright indirect light.

Mine is still blooming, but not as much so I figured it’d be going dormant soon.

That’s cyclamen. They like to dry out between watering.

Also, the flowers will naturally die off, and it is constantly refreshing its heaves, old leaves always dying, new ones coming up. But I think you’ve over watered it.

If you’re in zone 9+ these do much better in the ground.
