I recently purchased this haworthia. The outer leaves have mostly died/rotted and I’m left with just this. I’m worried it was overwatered so have left it to fully dry, and am just not sure what to do that this point. It does look dry now though and suspect it may need a water. How can I ensure its survival?

I would remove all soil, rinse roots gently under a tap to remove remaining soil. Inspect for rot and remove any rot. Then repot into a more gritty substrate mix. Perhaps the issue is drainage that caused the rot.

I agree with beans, it needs a grittier mix. I would suggest a small part potting soil mixed with perlite, vermiculite, pon, and sand. Make sure it doesn’t stay too dry for too long, because that will cause the outer leaves to shrivel and die.

When the roots sit wet too long they die back a bit. Those fresh roots that die first drink much better than old roots so the plant can’t drink as much and gets dehydrated. As the other commenters said, a grittier mix will help with root health. Then it’ll be able to properly hydrate itself and it should stop consuming leaves
