It has a few roots coming out the bottom – not sure if that is part of the issue? I thought I read that monsteras like to be root bound

Leaves don’t live forever, if it’s only one old leaf that’s dying off that’s a normal part of the plants life cycle. Let the plant finish absorbing energy from it and once it’s dried out you can remove it.

Did it come with a yellow leaf? Or was it green in the past and turned yellow?

This happened to a leaf on mine when the stalk got damaged. It didn’t snap but it bent enough that I guess it wasn’t receiving nutrients or water. It stayed yellow for ages and then browned and died.

If it’s just one leaf then I wouldn’t worry about it, it’s most likely an older leaf. Keep monitoring to see if there are any other leaves(especially the newer leaves).

I have a 8-year-old Monstera that is ~9’ wide and tall. I’ve had a few leaves turn yellow over the years.
Your pot looks pretty small for the size of the plant, repot it if you haven’t already. Use high quality, well draining, potting soil with perlite. If your Momo is rootbound, and I suspect it is, move it to a large clay pot. The small plastic pot you’re using doesn’t breathe like a Momo needs. Of course, the pot will need to drain excess water. Monsteras eat through water and need to shed the excess.
With that said, old Monstera leaves that get less sun eventually die off. All Monstera leaves die, but not all truly lived.

it’s fairly normal for old leaves to die off after a while, probably not an issue unless it’s happening to several leaves at the same time
