New Jersey tea attracts such a large variety of pollinators! It's a main hub of ecological activity, always buzzing with activity. And it's such a great shrub to watch and learn. Oh, you didn't know flies and beetles are pollinators too? Yes they are!

These are some of the friends I was able to capture this week.

Clicked through to end, was not disappointed!

  2. I have a two lil baby ones, planted last year. I don’t think either will be flowering this year, so this feels like looking into my future. I am so, so excited to see how much bigger they get and what they will attract by next year.

I cannot get nj tea to last in my yard :/ I’ve planted like 7, all in different locations. Two made it for about 3 years then didn’t return. Maybe someday I’ll find the right spot – I want them so bad. These are beautiful, l thank you for sharing 🙂

I didnt know much about this plant but might need to add it to my garden as well (Western PA). Did you start yours from seed or buy already rooted?

I’ve read these are commonly munched by deer. How have you managed to protect yours?

I replaced our butterfly bush this year with two nj tea bushes and they are already starting to grow and flower on their first spring/summer? They are so pretty and the bumblebees have already been happy to hang out on them! I can’t wait until they get bigger too and see what cool insects we get!

We have a rabbit in our front yard sometimes but he is more interested in our grass than anything!

I think i might have to find some of these to fill in around a lilac bush that will be severely pruned.
