The only problem is they probably grow at a similar rate as the loph. Many times the graft is to a root stock of a vigorously grower to speed up loph maturity, but I think if you want to learn to graft its a fine project.

I always have trouble with dragonfruit. I have moderate success with trichos like the one on the right, and I’m having a hard time IDing the left one. I’d prefer it, probably. It could be harissia jusbertii, which is a top permanent root stock.

What about Stenocereus pruinosus? Can it be used as rootstocks?

Both are fine options. Dragonfruit has a short shelf life as stock. Even if you didn’t see growth rate increase, at least you’ll be good for a few years
